i just change my account info to zero zero. now longer using zfbot.com again, i can not pay even $1 as a fee not worth it because i can still search related domains using google etc.

I agree we should pay something but there isn't enough of a service there to charge 10 bucks a month. I use it from time to time but not enough for that. Maybe they could charge per lookup or something creative. They are asking for money but they aren't even telling you what you get for it. Someone new would have no clue what they were getting for their money.

A flat rate is probably the easiest to implement. A per lookup rate would cause a lot of problems because different searches might require different pricing depending on the resources used for the query. At least it isn't as bad as what Domaintools did.

I use both, almost everyday, but now unfortunately I won't use zfbot.com. Both have different benefits. Zfbot supports hundreds of ngtld's and also few cctld's and lists thousands of domain names and we don't have to add a hyphen. We just enable hyphen and zfbot would add all domains with hyphens in them. For example:
I enable hyphens and search for "summer". The search results would include "s-ummer", "su-m-mer" etc.

NameDroppers lists 50 domains at a time. If you want to see all domains you will have to pay. But you can view many domains by changing the maximum-minimum lengths. Try it, you will come across several features that were missing in zfbot. But NameDroppers only supports .com, .net, .org, info and .us

Efty was free and they have built a userbase, the key to every paid service comes down to this, Does the customer believe the juice (benefit) is worth the squeeze (price)?

Perfect example, I cancelled Domain Tools and went to DomainIq but when Daily Changes became paid, I was going to pay for Domain Tools for that access and DNS.Link came along.

Maybe plenty of people would see $3 a month $30 paid yearly as the value worth paying for the site.

Smartest move DomainTools ever made. I don't personally like it but it was a great business decision. Domainers complain about 99 bucks a month while these firms are saying 99 bucks is way to cheap.

It's just not really my main focus in life. I have a day job that pays my bills. Domaining is a side gig for me. Secondly, I built zfbot back in 2009 (If I can recall correctly) and have made it free to everyone for almost a decade. It costs me over 100 bucks a month to host the server required to keep a service like that up and running. The database is half a terrabyte and the zone loads are running 24/7. There are over 3,000 people using it constantly. And after almost 10 years of supporting this effort, I've realized that I'd rather have 20 people paying me for the service than 3,000 people using it for free so that I can at least pay for the server. Pretty simple financial math. I'm more than happy to negotiate a fee that everyone thinks it's equitable but I'm not going to continue to support the service for no return. I hope everyone can understand my take on that. Ken

in those 10 yrs., i've never been to your site.
like a store i never shopped at, perhaps not intentionally, just wasn't on the path.

but, i like the way you expressed, your side of the coin.

plus the fact you did all that, for all those years, for free!

your service probably helped a lot of mofo's come-up in the game.

but now, some don't wanna pay the price, that the game now costs... to play in.

when you consider how many other, "up and wanna be coming services" now, they want to charge a fee from day 1... and their shiz-zit ain't even proven to be what they cliz-zame it is.
