Is there any reliable hosting service out there where you can configure your very own DNS like;

ns1.mickeymouse.info
ns2.mickeymouse.info

then allows you to use this DNS for all your domain names where you can easily set specific URL framed/unframed redirects/forwarding for each name just like how eNom's account panel works for each name? :-/

Right now, I have to use eNom's

dns1.name-services.com
dns2.name-services.com ...

It works just fine, but I was thinking of having my very own, noob friendly, DNS, something like what the big players like vertical axis, elequa, insteathmode etc, have.

Thanks.

You can get a reseller account everywhere. Research on www.webhostingtalk.com which co. is good.

I personally use servint.com (vps) at $49/month & another dedicated server at sagonet.com at $129/month.

i also used z3.com shared hosting at $20/month when i started out. they all allow you to set your own nameservers.

I think secondversion will find the n00b friendly thing useful :) (grr, www.secondversion.com/lol/noob.php :( ). Well, if you get a webserver of your own you can set your nameservers in WHM and set the domain name to the IP, it works both ways. (I think)

there is a guide here:
http://www.httpme.com/showthread.php?threadid=5

NOTE: do not sign up httpme if you've adult domain names, even if it's only a redirection to domain parking page, you'll be shut down.

You can find lots of info on any web hosting forums how to set up your nameservers.

Here are things you are looking for :

1. Managed DNS Service like ZoneEdit.com/EasyDNS.com
2. Host that lets you configure DNS zones from WHM or any other similar control panel/interface and provides custom nameservers.

Usually, it just involves adding a proper A record/CNAME entry in your DNS server. You'd need some basic knowledge of DNS configuration in order to do it.

http://support.easydns.com/tutorials/DNSsetup/structure.php is a nice read.

Thanks,
Pratik

You can also host your own DNS server. All you need in a fixed IP, A Windows server OS, and viola! Everything you need.

These days, probably most reseller hosting services offer "private nameservers" where you can make one of your own domains the DNS servers. To do this you have to have IP numbers associated with them. I have my own through a hosting reseller plan at httpme.com and my personal DNS is ns1(2).webmasterdirect.com on my developed sites. However, if you plan on using fabulous, afternic, sedo, or others services to park your names, you my still have to use their nameservers to get all their parking features to work.

I use www.HTTPme.com where 4 $35/mo I can host 50 domains. You get 1 IP address by default and I use my primary account domain as a name server (ns1 & ns2.hiqnet.com). Get lots of bang for the buck. Parking, subdomains, each domain has own mail server/webmail etc. etc. etc.

1st class operation.
