I think you will find it already is. They just haven't announced it yet!

With these operating systems being the only justification for keeping IE 6.0 alive, its fate is sealed. The remaining operating systems will update to IE 7.0 automatically upon it release. Ok, some will continue to operate redundant software, but nobody is going to factor them into any future site development plans.
