Well, I wonder why they send me a letter rather than email that will be faster to communicate.

OLSWANG is a intl lawfirm that send me a letter on behalf of Yell Limited because I own a domain name dot com that containg yellow and pages in it and ask me not to use it, they want a respond before 5pm on friday 29 may 2009 but just got letter today.

So I look at their website and try to submit contact form but fail so found a global email and sent email, hope they will receive my email.

Also domain is parked and not developped so I suppose they won't go against me even if 29 may is past and just received their email today and email them with confirmation of not using it.

So to all you here don't reg anything having yellow and pages in it.

"yellow pages" is their claim?

Tell them to get stuffed.

Ask for the TM registration number.

Well OLSWANG is a lawfirm that work on behalf of Yell Limited (YELL) and have 2 trademark Reg number in UK for "YELLOW PAGES" according to letter I've received.

I'm not in UK and my domain name does not word yellowpages in but yellow(word)pages.com but I really don't want to use this domain name as it's not worth.

What it is weird is that Yell is a UK based company and not U.S. also the real Yellowpages(dot com) is another company that never sent me any notice, I also see many websites live having yellow and pages in domain name, just try in google: site: yellowpages.com you'll see many live websites. Also my domain is not yellowpages at the end but it's yellow (word) pages.com

Also main yellow pages site have company names like yellow pages group (canada), Telstra Corp. for Australia, ...

"according to the letter"....
"Yellow Pages" on its own is un TMable.
...at least in the US.

There are hundreds of TM's containing the term but all of them disclaim the exclusive rights to ... wait for it... the term "yellow" and "pages" outside of the entire phrase that they TM'd

YELL publishes YellowBOOK anyway.

Tell them to wiz up a rope.

Since you are a resident of US, I would reply to their letter that in the USA, the phrase yellow pages can not be trademarked. No company has the right to it. If you like you can point them to this case.

There is some good info here: Yellow Pages - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Also, you can try reaching the YPAssociation.org

They should be able to guide you in the right direction.

Thanks a lot for your reply (will give you positive rep) I can have peace of mind now. Yes I'm not a UK resident so no need to be scared even if I will not use this domain or sell as not worth. I think they tried to intimidate people, they are nasty! They might want to get my domain (reverse domain hijacking).
