Yahoo is taking URLs faster than Google and, with time, Yahoo will drive better than Google. What´s your opinion?

I don't see where you can assume yahoo will drive better than google. Although this is currently the case for all of my sites (relatively new [~5 months], google hasn't really been a contributor yet), I do believe as long as google provides the relevant results that they have been, then they should be fine. Interesting you post this, as yesterday we (coworkers) were having a discussion about scalability with the recent amazon voluntary downtime to prepare for the holiday season. Those "theorists" who claim the internet will collapse will be proved wrong time and time again just like they have since 1980.

But back to google vs. yahoo. Yahoo DOES in fact seem to crawl / index my site faster, but it also is not the big fish anymore, so I keep my eye on the prize. What do you guys think?

It is all about the return..who cares who indexes faster. In the end whoever provides you with the best, not the most, but the best traffic to convert is the best one for you...and every site is different.

Speed of indexing and ability to drive traffic are two completely different things. I can't see the connection.

It's actually rather simple. When someone searches for results within a search engine and your site shows up on the first page, you have a better chance of them clicking your link. If Yahoo! has you closer to the top than Google, you will be more likely to get returns from Yahoo! than Google. Once you get to a similar position on Google, you would generally get more returns from there as more people use Google than Yahoo!.

This generality does have exceptions depending on products/services offered and description, type of site, etc.

Yahoo compared to Google falls into nothing on my sites, for every 100 incoming hits from Google, Yahoo delivers like 1. Inktomi Slurp, whatever that is, delivers even more than Yahoo.

MSN is what is making a leap upwards in my statistics, and fast. For september what there is done till now they even surpassed incoming hits when compared to Google.

BTW since my first post, my major site has been included in the google index and listed #1 for the terms I target. Google is now the leading referrer of all traffic (over 50% more than yahoo I might add).

Google, takes time to get you site listed. It is based on a lot of factors.

Google is slow to index web sites than Yahoo or MSN but but it may slow at begin but normally send more traffic than others later but i think all depends on how much yr site is optimized for each search engine.

My sites generally get the most traffic from google, then msn, then yahoo. I've got google analytics installed and often check where my page is in results too, and in general I am ranked better in google, so with that in mind, it explains alot.

You don't receive an email notifying you when it is listed.

For my sites, it usually takes one day to one week on google, always less than a week on Yahoo and MSN.

google takes 2 days to index a page on my site, yahoo takes around 10

Does it take longer because google is more specific about their criteria for a web page, using algorithms and other qualifying principles to rate each page. I highly doubt they have a slower system than yahoo, just more thought into what qualifies as a page that should be indexed and one that just represents advertisements that have little or no content. They also, more than likely have a larger database on hand that needs to be re-indexed constantly for updating purposes.
