I need to transfer several domains from Yahoo to RegistryFly. Do I just change the name servers and pay for the transfer with RF?

I can find little or no information on transfering Yahoo domains... :(

You will need to contact their customer service. All I can say is "good luck."

If you go to Yahoo > SmallBusiness > Help > put transfer on the search field > domains on drop-down menu > and then click on the fourth result you get to this ...

"
Does Yahoo! allow registrar transfers yet?

No. At this time Yahoo! does not offer registrar transfer. You can however choose to host your domain at Yahoo! by redelegating your name servers.
"

Maybe you should ask the customer service whether it has been updated since or about when it might be updated / change

I think their low offer prices ($2.99) together with the amount charged by the registry for .coms ($6.00) implies that Yahoo would probably follow such an "aggressive" policy so as to retain customers ... hopefully to purchase hosting or for renewals (since they won't want to go through the cancelation procedure worrying they might risk their domains) . I think it applies even if there are high-volume registrar-registry domain registration discounts (at least up to a certain discount amount) . I don't know whether there are any such discounts , but economically I think it is more possible that they exist (and possibly not publicized if they do) .

I would not have a problem renewing my domains with Yahoo...but...I wanted to drop some and when they have an active cc on file they charged me for all domains. Last month the total on my cc was over $1k for domains that I would have only renewed about 1/3d.
I think this is a deceptive practice! :td:

The way to transfer out is just to pull your domain from another registrar. Make sure the transfer lock is off and your contact email address is valid.

If it's a .biz, .us, .info or whatever else needs an authorization code you have to cancel the domain from your Yahoo control panel. After about four hours you either call or email support and tell them to release your domain. Once they release the domain, Melbourne IT is in charge of the domain. Within 24 hours of them releasing your domain to Melbourne IT you will get an email from them with a registrar number (or something like that, I forgot what they call it). Then you email [email protected] with your domain names and tell them you want the authorization key for your domains. They should respond within 48 hours, if they don't email them again.

The process can take anywhere from 5 days to about 2 weeks to complete.

Also remember to pay for the transfer at your new registrar (for the domains) before any of these steps.
