Greetings,

one ad-hoc method i use in conjunction with others in determining domain value is "the traffic estimate" tool in adwords.
Have you found this a useful method as part of your appraisla protocol for those popular search engine term names as opposed to brandables?
what other measurable ways do you use.

Micro-Case Study
for Example. for one of my domains xxxxxxyyyyyyyy.com
xxxxxxyyyyyyyy is a 14 character, two word fairly generic term with many possible subcategories such as

s1.xxxxxxyyyyyyy.com, s2.xxxxxxyyyyyyy.com

in Wordtracker: it shows as 14 exact searches
but with over 800 total searches with this term included somewhere in the phrase.

in Adwords: "xxxxxxyyyyyyyy" term is valued at $6-8 CPC with 6-8 clicks a day

Based on just this info what [price range] would you place this domain under?
and what other analysis would you consider in valuating it?

thanks in advance for your opinion

It doesn't even have 1 ad in Google when you search for it! Honestly, this name is worth $0. I would cancel it asap & get my money back if I were you.

BUT: you don't even know what word he is talking about!!!
:'( :'( :'(

He replaced the letters with "x"s and "y"s. He only said it is a two-word name with 14 characters.

$6-8 per click doesn't necessarily mean you'll get that - that's what the top advertiser is bidding, but if the second advertiser is only bidding $0.20, the top advertiser will PAY $0.21 per click, irrespective of his top bid. Once Google/Yahoo take their cut, you'll get about $0.08. Rather than trying to calculate based on the highest bid, park it and find out what you'll really get.

Without knowing the exact phrase, a generic term with type-in traffic (not search engine or link traffic) should be worth about 8-10 times the annual revenue. So if you make $100 per year, you should be able to get $800-1000.

not so much,

i'm planning on developing it and around several of its verticals
and then as a functioning site i might let some other party take over the reigns so at least i can get my reg fee back from it.

hi guys, sorry for any confusion , i'm 9 years too late for the .com (i wish)
actually it's theftinsurance.ca, so im estimating roughly about 1/10 the value of .com based on Canadian traffic being about 10% of the US
