Good News: The facebook login issue will continue to slow down Quest sales due to privacy concerns, but ultimately most people will find it more conveinent to use their real identity and login especially with "Facebook's Horizon," business ventures, virtual meetings with family and friends, etc. If you're just a gamer you may not see the point in logging in, but for what they're really going for, "Horizon, Business, Shopping, etc... it makes sense they want u to login for security and transparency and virtual community. This protects all users. Of course, ur data will be taken and thats the real privacy concern for the individual. But they need to protect users and create a safe online community. Time will tell if they change their approach. But for the long run, it makes the most sense for user growth that everyone is identifiable so that people feel safe and have fun forming virtual relationships with strangers.

How's things going with XR in terms of sales? Not seen many reported recently.

I don't think any domain abbreviations in virtual tech are selling too well right now, i think it's envitable we'll get there eventually (the tech itself) which will hopefully lead to more domain sales, but it's a lot slower than expected have to say.

When it hits it will hit. Think any type of tech, starts slow. Then, its everywhere. Smartglasses will open the flood gates for those who think XR is just for gaming. AR will be very popular. And gaming will never be the same with haptic suits, human eye resolution, etc. A whole new world has to be engineered on the coding side. Think about all the coding hours and graphic design for just 1 company, one platform, like Google Maps, not even Google Earth but just Google AR Navigation. AI & Machine Learning should help with this as time goes on. It has too. Because the enourmous demand for software engineers and graphic desginers in the years to come means that salaries in these fields will be quite competitive as jobs will need to be filled by the tens of thousands around the world.

 

This will be everywhere 1-2 years from now. Huge for news, sports, gameshows, talk shows, etc.

Thought i would stop by and see what is happening in the world of Xr . Seeing alot of traction on twitter and various articles . 2021 shaping nicely for all the tech companies that have been building in 2020 . I have had quiet a few enquiries from my xr no sales so its all good as i won't give them away .

I plan to hold mine for many more years to come and personally loving how xr is forming .

 

I've turned down several low X,XXX offers in the last six months with one 3k sale on a brandable.

Checking Google trends, XR still isn't getting much seemingly related search volume, compared to VR which has clearly related searches, but "XR" is used by an array of unrelated products. Interestingly, the two do seem heavily correlated though.

 

Apple smartglasses article at the bottom of this rant: Consumers wont start saying XR until major brands start using it. Once that happens, of course that will be the official beginning of XR as being a real world term, because right now I do feel for the time being that "AR" will be used in place of "MR & XR" just because "AR" is a very trendy and familiar word used by literally all journalists and celebritites and social media platforms. So for the average person, "XR Extended Reality" will always be a confusing new term to try and make sense of. For this reason, I see XR being a ways away as a consumer term. But there is no question the industry insiders love XR as a social term and for branding their startups. Its just still ahead of its time. Its like having the iPhone 12 Lidar system on the IPhone 4. You're like still getting over the fact you have 4G capabilities and true 1080p recording. The first apple glasses will casually bring people to the market. If they use XR in any way to promote their glasses, obviously that will be very good for domaining. If Apple chooses to go with calling both MR & AR.... AR?, it could be a long road for XR. But thats what ive been thinking lately and I wanted to share.

Content creators / Influencers will be the driving force now. I see a whole new generation of kids owning XR and making it their thing. They will use it as their Facebook circa 2005 or there TikTok circa 2018. That will be the beginning. You're going to see a massive influencer takeover of XR at some point. And if you're not hip to XR, even if your channel isnt about XR, your content will be missing that extra flare that XR content will have. Ultimately, you'll see an overnight boom of XR content with young talent looking to grow their influencer channels, and doing really impressive work. Ultimately inspiring more creators to join in, and then u have a snowball effect. The way kids use iMovie and then move to professional software for their content like Adobe Premiere or After Effects? They're using Snap AR and may soon be using Unity, especially with young influencers posting Unity tutorials. And then young audio engineers will be inspired to collab with the Unity designers. And then here come the streamy awards and virtual festivals and maybe even Hollywood 2.0. Once kids grasp Unity, you're going to see a massive content swing that will forever change traditional entertainment, especially YouTube. Movies, music, painting, performance art, will all split off into the XR direction, and inspire a whole new community that will continue to grow and grow, and eventually change entertainment forever. Wait till we see the XR marketing campaigns of the future and the content from Microsoft, Apple, Tesla, Facebook, Amazon, Zoom, Netflix, TikTok, Instagram, Snap, Teladoc, Google, Nasa, Samsung, Sony, NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, PGA, UFC, Verizon, TMobile, Starbucks, McDonalds, all these massive companies will spend tens of millions a year on massive marketing campaigns to keep pace with their competition and stay trendy. Everyone hear understands this already, thats why you're here. Just really fun to think about 2020.
