Wtf!!

So I just went into my cPanel and apparently since yesterday I have used 6GB of bandwidth on my proxy! When I saw that I thought I need to close my proxy since I just made 50 cents from ads. But I have looked into my stats and I have only had 50 unique visitors since yesterday and I have only used about 50mb bandwidth. So cpanel awstats says 50mb of bandwidth was used but the cpanel bandwidth says 6 GB was used. I find it hard to believe that 6gb was used in only the 2nd day the proxy has been up. Whats with this huge discrepancy in data?

EDIT: This should probably go in webhosting discussion. My mistake. Could a mod move it for me?

What files have been used in awstats? Where does your 50mb of bandwidth measure come from?

my 50mb bandwidth comes from awstats. Its a proxy so only a main page and then people view other websites through it.

someone made a website copy from some website through your proxy, that's all......

contact your hosting company and see what they advise

These hosting providers sometimes do weird things. For how much time has the DreamHost scandle been around.

I actually think awstats is wrong and I am being told the correct bandwidth from cpanel but I just am unsure as to why. When I have some time I will investigate this a bit more and see whats up.

I believe that tool based on the log information cannot be wrong ;)

Someone is hotlinking through your proxy, probably asian porn forums.
You will probably find it in your awstats under "unresolved ip" so awstats doesn't count it as a unique

I dont think AWStats accounts for all your traffic. I know back in the day if someone accessed your site through ip/~username this would circumvent your AW bandwidth calculations. Dont know if that work today still
