Obviously the China story may be creating a new market for short .WS domains. ALL of the NNNN.ws were bought out over three days this past December according to thedomains.com blog.

I registered some 5N.ws last night when they were released, anyone else stepping into .WS now?

I didn't know there were 2/3 char supported registrars.

Now the question is, if you buy a LLL.ws from a supported registrar, can you transfer the domain to Godaddy? Since the renewals are going to be normal anyway.

I mean, they may be buying .com and to some extent .co/.cc, but that doesn't mean they will buy anything. So I would be more careful in the extensions that the Chinese have ignored so far.
There was a big Chinese rush on .cm recently, but I still wouldn't buy .cm domains.

If you are excited about .ws becoming a popular extension, I don't think you are making the best move by getting mediocre 5N's. There are still plenty of good 4L WORDS available! Look at it this way: Good 4L CHIPS in .com can bring $1000's, sometime $10,000's and 4L WORD is more valuable than the BEST CHIP, even to Chinese! 4L WORD sales are rare because smart domainers are holding them!

Granted, Chinese love number domains, but don't be fooled! Your focus is clouded by the numbers Even Chinese value 4L words higher than the 5l numbers in .com. If you can get 4 letter word with meaning to Chinese, even better! Don't be a noob:P

The registry holds all the 3N/2N! There is a whole lot of talking I can do about how that effects the value of other numbers, but it should be obvious - the best ones are not available so you have to settle for mediocre ones. Know that when / as they do sell those 2N/3N for a premium price it will hinder the advancement of your 4N/5N. Any 'buy-out' momentum will be diluted by the prospect of the better ones being released along with a constant fear and question of "when does it end?".

You forgot to quote the part when I said "if it has Chinese meaning, even better" I forgive you for (probably) not realizing that lung and hung are very popular surnames in Hong Kong. Like I said, plenty of words have meaning in Chinese and English too.

Aura, Boss, Coin...there's plenty of words and Chinese like them too. You just don't see these domains for sale - and it's not because there is no market or 'harder to sell'...

If you download the list of 5N and look at the list you wont find any triple number CHIPs
like 11135 or 66638 etc
I think those are the 5% of the 100000 domains
