Came across a good blog post, originally written some time ago, thought it might be of use to a few NPers. I like how the guy took a problem and turned it into a post on his blog...

What to do when your wp site is hacked

And yeah, both my accounts on a server was hacked, with a couple dozen wp sites needing to be deleted/reinstalled/modified. It's been a fun couple of days.

Did you have WordFence installed on those blogs? It saved me few times where there was vulnerabilities.

And use as few plugins as possible.

Many of my sites had wp simple firewall, but a lot of my sites were just splash pages that I had thrown up with the intention of developing later, in 2014 and 2015. So they were vulnerable. Anyways, most of them I just deleted the entire site and folders, since they were not generating significant income. Others I went in and deleted specific files, and updated/added some security.

I also spent some time streamlining my wp sites; deleting all unused themes, stripping out plugins, making sure everything was up to date, etc.

Which got me to thinking I should write a blog post about it, which got me to thinking that someone already has, which led me to that post I originally listed..... :D

Glad you've got it under control. Simple Firewall is another good one.
