Im reading this forum for 3 days, and you guys are awesome!:loveyou:

heres the question:
domain LLL.FM (CVV.FM) cost $90 at GoDaddy to register.
Estibot value for this domain is $3400.

Estibot value for the same .com domain is $1,340,000
.de version was sold at Sedo for $4448
.info version was sold at Sedo for $4100

Does this domain worth registering and paying $90?

Thank You!

Hey zakary,

If I was in your shoes I wouldn't register that name. First the cost is high and you could probably get a better domain for that price.

Secondly, who would you sell this name too?
What would you develop on that name?

These are things to think about everytime you register a domain.

You mentioned you are reading stuff. Keep doing that. There are many domaining blogs out there as well that will teach you stuff you may not know right now.

I would suggest you start out with .coms. They are they bread and butter of domains. Try to find an available domain that you can spend $8 and flip to an end user (eg. Nike would be an enduser for shoes.com etc.)for $150 or $200 or more depending on the name.

Use the Google Keyword tool to search for keywords (use the exact term only as this is more accurate).

Don't buy brandable domains. (eg. blippee.com) These names are hard to sell and you have to wait a long to get them sold if you ever do.

Don't buy Trademark domains. FordCars.com but seem like an amazing name but Ford will/may come after you for the name and you will get $0. Stay as far away as you can from any Trademark. It's just not worth the risk

Don't heavily rely on Estibot. I like the tool but don't use it as a rule. It might be a good gauge but it isn't the value of a domain. Remember your domain is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. So it could be more or less.

Try focusing on products and service domains which you can then sell to end users who sell those products and services (e.g. guitarlessons.com) etc.

You will find early on that many of the good domains in the .com space are already taken but for you just starting out you can still find some gems out there that you can flip for pretty cheap ($150 - $500) but are still are a great return on an $8 investment.

This is probably a lot to take in (lol sorry for the long read) but the more you read the more you will understand what I've posted as I've pretty much come to these conclusion from learning from my own mistakes, reading, and getting help from other domainers (not that I'm right on everything).

Hope you make a nice sale.

Difficult to determine without knowing for sure the exact domain.

I found 2 3 letter .fm's with sales.

Red $2100
GPS $500

It would have to be exceptional to get your money out of it IMO. Brandable will not cut it for .fm.

Estibot and its sister site, valuate are great for quickly checking the searches, competition, pr, overture and availability for domains that you want.

You shouldn't ever take notice of dollar appraisals in a literal sense except to draw the eye to something that warrants extra investigation :)

.FM I would keep well away from opening poster unless it is something to do with radio such as music.fm or talk.fm

There simply is no market for it, stick to what Slippy says with .coms or venture out to .net and .org too as they can also be good, but the prices can be lower so you need experience.

Country domains can be excellent to if your site is country specific, a domain like londonhotels.co.uk would be excellent, the .co.uk is an extremely strong extension along with Germanys .de and can do very well on resale values if your rsearch is good :)

(.co.uk is recognised by more people in the UK than the international .com, which is why it does so well)

The main question to ask yourself is "how many people actually use this domain extension?"

If there aren't so many, then forget about it except in the case of domain hacks which are very specialised anyway.
