Would a domain valued at $730 on estibot be worth registering or are the results from that tool too unreliable?

It's a .tv extension and is a past-tense verb with .com (valued at $77,000), .co.uk, .net, .org etc. all regged. The word is part of some search terms, but would be unlikely to be searched on its own.

Estibot details:

Frequency (Google) 305000000
in Anchor Text 1400000
in Title 1660000
in URL 724000
Backlinks 0
Alexa Rank Not Ranked
Traffic (uniques) / Day N/A
PPC Ads Score 2
Overture/mo 1708
Wordtracker/day 361

Should I reg it? Would it be stupid to assume it would re-sell for more than its reg fee?

Estibot gives nice information for the domains, but since it is a tv you should first consider how the name goes with .tv extension

if the word doesn't sound good, regging will be waste of money. if it sounds good to you, if I were you, I would take the name.

Before registering you should maybe get the opinion of a human being who knows their stuff.

I wouldn't suggest registering a domain purely on an Estibot appraisal, especially while it's still in Beta.

Good luck :)

Probably not a premium keyword...

.tv is not the most amazing extension there is...

Check out the other extensions. Are they parked/unused or live sites ?

Probably not a lot of search traffic to be expected on that one, besides it's not a mainsteam extension.
IMO don't trust automated appraisals but use your common sense (and gut feeling). But I would not reg an 'exotic' extension without development plans. Resale potential is limited when you stray away from the mainstream TLDs.

I would avoid the TV myself. They just don't sell even if they are amazing.

i.e. i have a single word dot tv with 500,000,000 google results. I couldn't get $25 for this in the marketplace. TV is not doing as well as many would have you believe. Few weeks ago I sold one of the very best LLL.tv and it hardly made 1000.

I would also avoid automated appraisals - they are pointless because the values given rarely translate into tangible sales. It is just a phantom figure of what your domain may be worth to the right buyer. Meaningless, cos most of the time we never find the right buyer do we? :(

And it really depends on the domain afterall, I must agree with all points above, but what's it anyway?

estibot usually gives a bit too high valuation. I wouldn't make a buying decision based on it.

so what do you reckon is the right value, 50% of estibot valuation? thanks

Not really sometimes its too much over real domain value, and sometimes it is too low below real domain value. Although I repeat estibot is best for all-in-one place data such as traffic, links stats.
