Worst ccTLD?

I would say .na ($2000+ to register a name). Close second is .NR (couple of hundred and you must send a cashiers check via postal mail) :alien:

.MQ Is terrible IMO. Has no potential for hacks, good for Martinique related only.
I am not sure whether I'd agree that the hackability of a TLD indicates its quality. Jamaica's cant really be used for hacks either and certainly also dozen of others.

Surely .asia would be a continent code rather than a country code. :)

Well,
.ASIA is a TLD and not CCTLD. :)

lol, I wonder if pope.va is available...

.asia has to be the worst in my book, how does it even qualify as a ccTLD?

I guess we'll have to wait and watch though, with most of these...

.asia is a sTLD and check this link to know more about this http://dotasia.org/

Technically, .aero and .coop are gTLDs, but I certainly understand where you're coming from. Did you take a look at the links that I posted. Very few sites in comparison to many of the top gTLDs.

I was not quite sure of the meaning of a gTDL so I took the liberty of looking it up. Interesting post bye the way. Thx.

A generic top-level domain (gTLD) is a top-level domain used (at least in theory) by a particular class of organization. These are three or more letters long, and are named for the type of organization that they represent (for example, .com for commercial organizations). The following gTLDs currently exist[1] (as does .arpa, which is sometimes considered a gTLD):

* .aero - for the air transport industry
* .asia - for companies. organisations and individuals in the Asia-Pacific region
* .biz - for business use
* .cat - for Catalan language/culture
* .com - for commercial organizations, but unrestricted
* .coop - for cooperatives
* .edu - for post-secondary educational establishments
* .gov - for governments and their agencies in the United States
* .info - for informational sites, but unrestricted
* .int - for international organizations established by treaty
* .jobs - for employment-related sites
* .mil - for the US military
* .mobi - for sites catering to mobile devices
* .museum - for museums
* .name - for families and individuals
* .net - originally for network infrastructures, now unrestricted
* .org - originally for organizations not clearly falling within the other gTLDs, now unrestricted
* .pro - for certain professions
* .tel - for services involving connections between the telephone network and the Internet (added March 2, 2007)
* .travel - for travel agents, airlines, hoteliers, tourism bureaus, etc.

The following gTLDs are in the process of being approved, and may be added to the root nameservers in the near future:

* .post - for postal services
* .geo - for geographically related sites
* .cym - for Welsh language/cultu

There's a mod out there for Half-Life called Sven Co-Op. If i knew about the .coop domain when the game was released I would of registered www.sven.coop :P I mean the mods dead now but it would of been awesome.

.asia is big and ugly :td:

How do you get that?

I would think that the .asia will be extremely popular much like .eu

In several years, the asian countries will easily be the largest Online Market.

Why use .cn, .in, .tw, .jp etc when they can all fit under .asia ???

i agree with the .aero and .coop...both are pretty useless unless you own something like airplane.aero..

Actually, I do own Airplane.aero.

I have Airplanes.aero and Plane(s).aero too.

You do have to be in the industry or a licensed pilot to register a .aero. Since you can't sell them, you must also develop to have value.

Good luck registering one. They've been name nazis about registration, requiring an Asian address for verification.

Because they all speak different languages. Using the local ccTLD helps sort by content you can read. I'm guessing .asia will be largely English, which a lot do speak as a second language.

IMO no ccTLD is bad. Even if the country is sparsely populated, the ccTLD will still have a use. The only ccTLDs that are pointless IMO are those of unpopulated territories (.tf, .bv, ...). But other ccTLDs can never be bad IMO, even if they have a small target audience.

And to answer a question earlier in this topic: pope.va cannot be registered as .va domains cannot be registered by any other party than the Vatican government and Holy See. Your only option is to become Pope yourself and claim the domain ;)

Asia's not too bad at all, in my opinion.

how much are you willing to pay for a ccTLDs? I do not look at ccTLDs that cost more than USD50. How much harder to recoup back the investment. Did I miss anything?
