99 million bucks - that's quite a lot for a second-hand phone - but it's good news for me 'cause I just regged iPhoneHacks.in - maybe I should put it up for auction too ?

The seller knows they're fake.

"On Aug-24-07 at 17:19:43 PDT, seller added the following information:

I am trying to get a hold of eBay right now as I am sure many of these bids are fraudulent. Please do not bid if you do not intend to buy."

What a fruit cake .. What would make the "Second" Iphone ever unlocked valuable any way. :talk:

chances are he isnt the first person to do it anyway, many hackers keep quiet about their skills and wouldn't have announced they had done this.

Fox news just did a story on the 17 year old kid who unlocked the iphone. He says it was easy and he has it up for sale on ebay. The current bid is 40k. I believe he also has a second unlocked iphone for his personal use.

Actually there are 4 ways to unlocked the iphones right now. 3 ways is using a hack and 1 way is opening the iphone and soldering something inside. Each of the hack software cost under $100 and I think they are going to license them soon enough.

ehh
The seller ended this listing early because of an error in the listing.

Update,. on the sellers blog:
THE iPhone HAS BEEN TRADED

Terry Daidone, the founder of Certicell contacted me this morning, and offered to make a trade for the iPhone. I traded it for a sweet Nissan 350Z and 3 8GB iPhones. I will be sending the iPhones, unlocked if they wish, to jpetrie(the first donater), gray(the reversing genius), and iProof(who is truly amazing at finding stuff online) Thanks a lot everyone. I leave for college tomorrow, and this has been a great end to a great summer. If I ever do anything more with the iPhone, it'll definitely be posted here. Also I contacted iphonesimfree and offered to verify on this blog their claims of a software unlock. No response yet...
wow.. a nice car :o

The kid's name is George Hotz from NJ. He actually took a trade and canceled his ebay auction. The trade was from a guy who owns a cell phone after market company. The company gave him a new nissan 350z and three 8gb iphones.

Yes someone has already registered georgehotz.com in case you were wondering.

the guy had loads of fraud bids
