Hmm, that is a long term investment! Anything could happen in that time, i wouldn't offer much myself- it will probably be trademarked around that time anyway. I would n't pay more than $xx personally, just cos i might be dead by then!

If your paying $10 a year to renew a year its gonna cost you $400 by 2046 and then FIFA will make you give them the domain for nothing. Not a sensible investment.

I agree... it seems risky being so far into the future. Who knows how things will have changed by then. They could even have a whole new address system on the net, .com could have migrated into something else we can't quite comprehend right now... and even if everything does stay exactly the same it's possible FIFA would just take it off you anyway for breach of copyright (name+that year), especially if you buy with intent it to them.

Whether or not FIFA take the name its still a very very risky investment. Have a read up on Olympic domains, its the same with World Cup domains.

that domain will have to wait too long(44 yrs for me is long) to reap any benefits for you. you also have to renew it year after year for 40 something years. its not worth it.
