Hi,

A few recommendations, unless this script is a scam like the thousands of others found on the web:

1) Release a beta of your script for free so you can work out bugs and understand other issues. Work out the bugs, and get some good running sites from known users who can establish the credentials of the site.

2) Take your time before announcing that something is "fixed". You cannot allow your own confidence to get ahead of reality. It makes you look rather inexperienced and amateurish. If someone reports a bug on your forum, ask them if it is fixed before you declare it. There are thousands of variables in any script deployment and what works here may not work there.

3) The demo should be all in one language. Otherwise it looks like it was rushed out.

4) It is necessary to have a demo of the backend administration area as well as the front end.

5) Make sure you price the template in such a way that you can make enough money to maintain it. If you don't, then I will not trust that you will.

Hope these thoughts are helpful. As you ca tell I was once (and only once) burned.

Rich

So did you get the details ? Please let me know if anything.

Yea, the email was in my junk folder.

I have my site up and running ok. The only drawback is what I mentioned earlier about the fact when someone signs up they go the the wp panel so they need two more clicks before they can place their ad [ if they can figure out how to get there ].
So the site is running as a free ad posting site for the time being, which was my original intention for it anyway.

I would love to see this developed; when someone signs up they get redirected to a page within the site with links to the various areas of the site [where there can be other info placed there by the site owner as well] instead of the wp admin page.

I believe this is the only major aspect of the script that you would need to address in your upcoming updates, in order to make it easy for the user to navigate the site easily.

I haven't tested the paid ad function; I hope after a user pays for ad insertion/upgrade they get redirected to the ad post area.

Hi Rich,

first of all the script is not a scam, its a good script i have lots of positive reactions from lots of clients, so its a real script.

1)The script its at version 3.1, so lots of bugs were fixed from old versions, i also have support forums where people post their problems and suggestions about the theme
Sitemile.com - Support Forums

2)Yes i know, all the things that i said were fixed, they got fixed. I am not a scammer. But some users didn't even followed the installation instructions from the readme i deliver with the theme, and sure the theme isnt working when you are not installing it correctly.

3) The demo is just in English but for some reason i gave access to admin side for everyone and some "well intentioned" visitors played with the theme settings and changed them. For now i removed the login for the admin side because there were too many visitors that were ruining the demo theme.

4) The admin backend was available to everyone but as i said i suspended it for now because there were some visitors that were ruining the demo theme. I posted screenshoots of the Admin side.
Find them here: sitemile.com - wordpress classified ads theme, auction theme, web scripts, contact importer, freelancer script, commerce, online shop

5) The price of the template is ok, I think. I am making enough money. Maybe in future will raise up the price if new revolutionary features will be added.

Thanks for your suggestions and thoughts

sitemile ads theme is a copy

Guys, the sitemile script is an illegally modified version of my original classified ads script, ClassiPress. I have asked this guy to take down his site but he "claims" he didn't copy it.

I invite you to take a look at the similarities to see for yourself.
ClassiPress Demo*|*A classified ads system powered by WordPress

Also notice how his homepage looks very similar to the Woo Themes site. He's all about stealing other people's hard work. WooThemes*|*Premium WordPress Themes

Just thought I'd warn you.

That is not true, he is just frustrated that my script is much better than his. I even sent him a copy of my script for him to see that my script is coded by me. I am not one of his clients and i couldnt get his script to copy him.

I am very transparent and i suggest the moderators of this forum to not tolerate such posts like his. So i order to clear this out i propose the moderators to compare my script with his script. Ofcourse he will need to send his script to the moderators. I will send mine also, the new updated version. Then the moderators can say.

So what do you say David? are you in? Lets clear this. You are just frustrated my script is better.

Waiting moderators opinion and you David.

Cheers,
Andrei

Yes, but Sitemile or someone else must provide an OLD copy of his script also, and an old copy of David's script as well to compare the code. Both of you sound like you are telling the truth, but Daivd only seems to mention that the script's look and feel have been copied. If the code underneith is not copied, then he needs to back off, IMO.

Thanks for supporting the cause in an objective way! I really appreciate that at a person.

Anyhow the moderators have my script new and old version, so David should send both of the versions of his scripts.

I sent to David my script periodically so he can see i am not copying his source code, at each time he attacked me. I dont know whoever does what i did in a business competition, but i was transparent and had nothing to hide.

I know David knows i didnt copied him,(even better after i sent my source code to him). He knows his script best, but he just seems frustrated because my script is better and i can compete with him. He doesnt like competition.

He def. needs to retract his accusations.

ps: better look at Wordpress Classifieds Theme | Online Website Template for your Blog which clearly is a ripped off version of your script. But maybe that is not that good to compete with you so you dont even bother to attack it.

Cheers,
ANdrei

While we wait for Rick's judgement, I would like to ask some questions, before I will buy it:

- Is it possible to have multiple pictures in the same ad?

- How is the paid/featured ads showed? What makes them featured and worth to pay for, for our visitors? where is these ads showed? are they in Bold? first in the categorylist? with bigger letters? or what?

- is it possible to post an ad without registering and subscribing to Wordpress?

- do you give discounts for NP-members?

- how much extra will it cost, if I have a WordPress template I want this script to be implemented to?

- is it possible to see how the admin panel works in real, not pictures.

Thanks for your answers.

Did you get the GD working for the thumbnails? The example sites I didn't see that. Also, do you have a special review pricing or discount for NP members?

It's not an issue of being "frustrated" Andrei, it's about being an ethical business person. You and I came to an agreement last month (so I thought) only to find out later that you didn't follow through and essentially lied.

It was quite obvious (and flattering) that you had built your original sitemile script off of ClassiPress so don't even try to tell these people otherwise.

Of course the scripts won't be an exact match when being compared line by line (especially since you've changed things quite a bit since then) so I've pointed out a few areas that are clearly copied.

Andrei, I am tired of having to chase you down all over the forums. You are causing myself and these moderators so many headaches. You're still a young college student new to the online business world trying to make a buck which is great. I do however, recommend you tread carefully and don't burn anymore bridges otherwise your online presence will be ruined and people will steer clear of your scripts. The internet is smaller than you may think.

Yes David, i know. I even admitted at that time i got the idea from classipress(but just the idea of classifieds and wordpress), but just by looking at the site and doing my programming , because i am not a cheater, and didnt had any access to your script.

As another user of the forum says above, and you also said the scripts are different, even though in the look they seem to have some common parts, you need to retract your accusations.

I am not causing headaches to you. You are causing to yourself. You came here at namepros after me and start accusing me even after i sent you all the versions of my script.

And off the record, the deal we had (not to advertise anymore at sitepoint), i was advertising there even before you be the owner of the classipress.

Let the people choose the better script.

Cheers,
Andrei

Alright, so in reviewing the two scripts it seems that both parties are partially correct.

The version of sitemile's script does have a few functions which are virtually identical to an early version of ClassiPress, however, many elements have been changed and are now under different variable names. As far as I can tell, no part of the code was directly "copied," however, it may have been rewritten with the same format, just with different variables. In a sense, sitemile did actually rewrite the code from scratch - he just followed the format which was given in the original version of ClassiPress.

I cannot disallow the sale of either script, as there is not enough of a connection between the two *current* versions for me to make a good judgement call.

I would highly suggest that users evaluate both scripts fully before purchasing one or the other, as both have been developed extensively.

If anyone has additional questions, feel free to contact me. Thanks.

ok thanks for clearing things out, but still i am not very happy with the answer. I repeat, i did not had any access to David's script code.

The scripts are both wordpress themes... wordpress has a strict format for its themes, and a lot of used elements in all themes are the same since they are predefined functions. So you dont have many ways of doing certain things, you got to stick with the wordpress format.

Both scripts are classified ads scripts, so its obvious they will share some common elements like, price of an ad, the person who posted the ad, price of the item, currency..etc From here the variable names and other things.

And as i said in an earlier post, i admintted at that time that the idea of my theme was from classipress, but i would never copy his code since i repeat, i did not have any access to it.

I hope this clears things a bit more. In any case i am ready to explain and sustain any line of the code in my script. It was written by me.

Cheeers,
Andrei
