Greetings,
My company have developed a mobile game and I have put it to some channels of distribution. I will port same game to multi-country code website game, too. Overall, my business can be big in future.
Now, I have been start thinking about trademark issues. I could buy the <game name>.com for 3 500 $, but the <game name> is hard to trademark. I have verified these issues by searching OHIM trademark database and talking to my trademark agency. I shouldn't have any trademark issues with <game name>.com, because the domain is ~9 years old. Bad, thing is that many country code <game name>.xx names have been registered, also. So, I must spent more money to buy all big cc domains. Other problem is that, if I don't own trademark for my product, product and my business value is weak in the venture capital point of view. Good is that I get lots of typo visitors from one big website. Also, <game name> describes the game context very well. It is short, easy to spell and remember.
So, my question is, should I continue business with current <game name> or should I change it to more unique name, which can be trademarked.
Regards FoL
