Confusing, what is the difference between a regular mobile phone and this socalled wireless phone?
Wireless phone is that just the term to use for a inhouse phone without a cord?

That would make sense to me.

hahahah. I think ppl are jumping into the "wireless" bandwagon.

Its true what you've said, cordless phone is the landline phone without the wire. Then we have mobile which is of course wireless or cordless :hehe: .

Now the confusion comes in when broadband market takes off. We had regular broadband then the cordless version of broadband is known as Wireless Broadband. So ppl tend to mix and match wireless with anything without wire.

BTW, wirelessphone.com is a premium name IMHO.

greatdomains.com was listing it at $350K for months and months...I guess the owner finally decided to take it to a place where it might move...

I've never used the phrase 'wireless phone' before, but it is a very good generic domain. Overture shows 46,606 for wireless phone, and surprisingly, 1826 for wirelessphone.com.

I wouldn't pay $50k for it, but nonetheless its a nice domain. It'll be interesting to see what it goes for.

I agree with you but if i were a big company with great business plan for that name, I'll pay 50k if that's what the owner wants.

Again if we looked at history of successful businesses, they aren't made of the generic word of their industry. eBay,Google,yahoo,apple,oracle....so on and on.

I would not get to excited about this sale because it just means somebody offered on it and its closing.

Afternic lists domains closing soon because the reserve was met...however, less than 25 percent of all domains that are closing for more than $2,000 actually sell.

I believe this is just a sales pitch by the owner of wirelessphone.com to get a featured listing for a week (for only a dollar). All you have to do is have your freind become a memeber on Afternic as a buyer for a dollar and make a bid that meets the reserve. Then your domains goes into closing for a week.

I believe the owner did this same stunt a few weeks ago and will keep trying it.

Wireless is not as good as keyword with phone as Cell or Cordless. We use Cellphone and in our homes we call in cordless. Thus, I would be suprised if this name actually completes the sale and shows up in a few weeks as final.

hi danny nice to see you again here.

i couldn't agree more bud. I had my name featured listing on Afternic many months ago for $1. Then the buyer diappeared :'( . That wasn't my friend.

Then i received an email from Afternic saying the account my suspended. What a lost for the guy :hehe: .

Well speaking about wireless & cellphone, i just remember when i was in Texas few years back i saw an advert sounds "Wireless Verizon". Even i was confused for a moment. As far as i know Verizon is a Mobile Network Provider, like any other mobile/cellphone company.
**Citation for non-US Npers: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Verizon_Wireless

Personally i think wireless market will boom. Before the 2001 bubble pops there were private investors including our very own Uncle Bill planned a global wireless broadband network using 1,800 communication satellites.
For some reason they went bust, but the news claim it as "Project has been suspended".
Now Google is trying to create US-wide internet network using proprietary port called "Google Cube". Probably skype might be interested on WirelessPhone.com since they've planned to launch wireless(cordless) VoIP phone.

Creative possibilities on "Wireless" are immense. Again, this name on Afternic might just be an internal name speculation.

Announcement from the Department of Redundancy Department:

All Wireless, Cellular, and Mobile Phones no longer requiring the use of wires are officially no longer bound by wires. However, wired phones requiring wires will be on display for you to look at and view at the Smithsonian this week and other museums around the world or other locations where "old stuff" can be seen.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled regular programming schedule.

Many, many Thanks,

Department of Redundancy Department.

May I throw in my 2 pesos here?

WirelessPhone.com is a good buy, but FMV may be short-lived, or rather, as a term is at or near its peak in value, imho. The world (Asia, Europe, and America... ) is moving towards *convergence*, merging communication, entertainment, and business/personal devices... it's not just a buzz word, it's reality.

Convergence in products and providers: triple play / quadruple play :)

WirelessPhone.com? Valuable, true, but it's yesterday's marketing message. Tomorrow's message is about combined services. iPTV / broadband / VoIP + <device/peripheral/medium/service>.com domains will be major marketing channels for these companies. They are all good as standalones, but the world is moving towards Triple Play and Quadruple Play, and in a big way (heck, next stage "play" is already underway - beginning 2010 we can start to see/hear sextuple play and beyond, I wager).

Triple Play and Quadruple Play services will begin their marketing efforts early 2007 here in the US. Providers selling Voice (largely VoIP), Video (iPTV, not Web TV or iTV), and Data (broadband) (with Quadruple Play combining the triple play service of broadband, television and telephone with wireless service provisions) as a package is *THE* movement globally.

Of course, I could be completely wrong here :)

Great posts here, thanks for sharing!

2 cents from Canada....
wireless phone is a common term around here, lots of advertizing for it
Rogers Wireless Service for example
Sprint Wireless Service also
Wireless is a term used all the time for cellular phones (at least here)
When it's a home land line phone, it's simply called a cordless.
wirelessphone.com could be of great potential
:imho:
