I'm interested in your opinion of WineWars.com I picked it up a couple of years ago with the intention of developing it (I am a wine afficianado, and it is a good market) I never got around to it, and while it's still an interesting idea to me, it's not a priority; it's up for renewal and just thought I'd ask the forum for some feedback on the domain on merits.

It's short (eight letters)
It's memorable and easy to spell
It's alliterative (subjective, but I love alliterative names for brandability purposes)
It's a .com
It's now also a couple of years old

So it's not totally without its good points. Just not exactly a riveting domain.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

BeerWars.com closed today on Go Daddy Expired Auctions at $197.

Great buy, I missed that one otherwise I would have went for it :)

Nothing like picking up a $xxxx domain for $197.

It had age too Lennco its a 13 year old domain. There are now at least 5 shows on my cable Comcast in Pennsylvania with a ****** Wars type show.

RegistrarWars.com has been getting a few lowball offers.

No it doesn't Kate, I would say the more popular area for the use is for TV shows

On my cable box there is

Cupcake Wars
StorageWars
WhaleWars
ParkingWars
DivorceWars
FoodWars
Wedding Wars

There was a Robot Wars

It has been a proven popular suffix for TV programming, does that correlate to domain values directly ? NO. Is a popular, relevant keyword that you handregged worth a speculation ? IMO Yes.

I regged HostingWars.com sold for $750, Registrar Wars which I thought was the best of the three and DomainParkingWars.com which I thought would be a cool name for a blog focus on the niche, I did have a logo done but its just about time and other projects.

LinM a member here owns DropWars.com for drop catching which I think she was developing.

So I would not go crazy but I see Wine and Beer very much worth the speculation. I can say since I included BeerWars.com in my Go Daddy Picks post and mentioned I owned Registrar Wars I have received two offers, $100 and $300.

Here's a close example: Wine Battles. They look like a similar concept and quite successful. They just started an affiliate campaign through CJ.
