Will You Teach Your Kids about Domaining?

I registered Rebecca.net and eRebecca.com for my daughter with the hopes that she will someday love her names. Just wondering if anyone else has domaining plans for their children?

I think she will either be really interested or say leave me alone about these dang domains dad.

I bought my sister her domain name - she was fortunate and got it in .com (lucky brat).

Its been almost a year and 1/2 and she still hasnt touched it. To annoy her I actually threw up parking pages with advertisement related to How to for Dummies. I thought that was funny.

I think if Im still doing this when I have kids, theyll definetly have to learn the family business.

Once I have kids, and they're old enough to understand the basics, I'll definitely teach them if they're interested in learning. Probably won't push the matter too much though, as only a special breed of people are fit to be domainers!

That special breed thing is kind of why i wouldn't mind my daughter involved with it at least as a hobby. I think most domainers are intelligent and entrepreneurial. I definitely would like those character traits instilled in her.

I will teach my son about domaining in about 4 years, he will be close to five years old then, If he enjoys domaining a much as i do, i will probably have to get a second job, just to be able to fund both of us being domainers

I figured by the time he got old enough to be one of the youngest members on DP (in 8 years give or take) most of the names would be long gone. So I regged, planetkai.com & .net--also Kaiis.com (My sons name is Kai)

He said he wouldnt sell it, not for any price he told me. I will get a site up for him though. Not just a parking page.

PlanetKai.com is a cool name, i can see a kid forum on that type of site. See that is what i wanted this thread to be about; Domains bringing kids and parents closer :D

each of my kids has their own domains reserved. But only my son is interested in adding contents to the site. So I got 5 domains for him.

My little boy is onyl 2 yrs old and I definitely intend on passing my names on, so he'll have to at least learn the basics so he doesn't sell daddy's assets short.

Exactly! When I have kids, they will get a football or a baseball bat, and MUST play outside for at least 2 hours for every half hour of computer time. They will NOT be allowed to join ANY FORUMS, and if I see Myspace or Facebook in the browser history, they will be grounded and will have to pay me $.50 for ever kb downloaded from those sites.

That's not too excessive, is it?

We will share domain names/computers/IP addresses under the umbrella of my corporation.
We will have to wait and see when he takes this.
My older and less technophilic daughter is happy not to be involved.

...providing a first hand look of an addictive personality
...increasing their vocabulary as daddy cusses at the computer (which also provides a great deal of entertainment
...getting to know what it is like to live on government cheese as daddy has quit his job
...seeing how long one can go with out changing diapers until the stench is so overwhelming that I have to carry the kid outside and leave him sitting on the porch (unless its raining and then I take advantage of the opportunity of free running water from the downspout as ours has been turned off for months now)

If you want your kids to be rich fast , do not teach them about domain business...
The big money in this business done in 1996- 2001
Now it is nice and slow... and in 10 years from now I think (not hope...) this business will go to other fields.
