Briefs: Korea, Canada team on WiBro mobile tech

South Korea Telecom and a Canadian firm have joined forces to develop technology that will be used in the next generation of mobile devices.


SK Telecom and Montreal's Wavesat will be working on WiFi and WiBro/OFDMA system tools and a development kit that will soon bring full wireless broadband service to motor vehicles.



WiBro 802.16e S-OFDMA (orthogonal frequency division multiple access) is the Korean WiMax profile compatible with the 802.16e profile WiMax standard.

"The resulting WiBro products will accelerate the delivery of WiMax full mobility infrastructure, in South Korea and worldwide," said Wavesat CEO Michel Guay

Anyway, for this to be a valid domain discussion WiBro, there has to be some link between the two otherwise i dont see the point. I also cant see the point of shooting him down under the flag that he owns "WiBro" domains either. You dont think him posting this news is ever going to raise the value of his domains do you..?

WiBro (as in the thread) - like others im more of a Wimax fan myself (own Wimax.tv Wimax.sc etc) and i still think WiBro has many hurdles to overcome. WiBro to its credit doesnt have the international standard that WiMax has had trouble with but nevertheless its still v.young.

google returns for these two new techs - 13.6m for WiMax, 600k for WiBro! I think this speaks in volumes..
