Why .TV made my blog boom!

I have not seen many people taking full advantage of the power of a .TV domain. I will now tell why it works so well for me.

I am Norwegian, but live in Beirut. In December last year I started a video blog called 2famous.TV. It became a success.

Lebanon has among the slowest internet connections in the world. Because of this I am running one of the very first video blogs to emerge from this country. Just the idea of a .TV domain here attracts attention. It's easy to remember, and there are still many great free .TV domain names out there. If you get a short and catchy name that people will remember, I think it's way more powerful than all the .info, .me, .org or .net names if you get to use it right.

So to get it out there, to make the bloggers know who I am, I wrote a list of the 40 most visited blogs in Lebanon. That got tons of traffic from the blogging community in Lebanon. Then I wrote a list of the 30 most influential people on Twitter in Lebanon. Boom! All the famous people in the country was tweeting me. Now people know my blog, and precisely because of our domain name, people remember me. It's been a great success so far!

I am also curious to know about other successful .TV domains out there. Do you have any examples?

Good to know you are doing well with it, i think the fact that you are writing original content is what is helping you, plus the world loves famous people so i am sure you will always content subjects, well done

Welcome to the forum and thanks for a most interesting contribution for the .tv extension.

It was indeed inspiring to see how the site has progressed and how the extension is a fave for so many around the world...

I don't think the .tv or the domain name for that had anything to do with your blogs "success" TBH
More along the lines of good site content is what makes it popular in LEB

Thanks for your replies guys! I just think that it has become too difficult to find good .com domains out there, and would very much like to see more specific uses of extensions. That's why I registered at this forum -*to get some inspiration, and to see how it's progressing. I am personally in love with the .TV extension. The fact that it's a bit more expensive also makes it more professional, I think... and it already tells your viewers that they can expect videos on the site. (I hate it when I go into a .TV site, and there are no videos there. What's the point?)

Content is always the most important, but branding is not to be underestimated too. I think a successful domain name is one that people would remember after having clicked into your site for some reason, and I think that it can probably affect your returning visitors ratio –*at least for the first few returns.
