Why is my domain name my most searched term?

Hi,

I noticed looking at my logs that my number 1 most searched term from search engines is my domain name. My domain name by far exceeds all the other searched terms and it is not even a keyword that would come in mind.
I mean why would anyone search about my domain name? They have the domain name in hand so why don't they simply type the domain name at their web browser address window to get to my website.
I am suspecting that these web-surfers are in fact competitors who are simply searching my domain name to find out what my backlinks are.

That's one possibility. Or in case you're offering a link exchange then they're just checking out how popular your website is in search engines.

This is a standard search system... Many of your customer do mouth publicity for your website... for example, I refer my friend on the phone to your website... On the phone I term something like... "accuwebhosting.com".... many newbies will not type this same keyword in address bar... but they will type something like "accu web hosting", "accu host", "accuwebhosting" or "accuwebhosting.com" in google to find out all possible listing of your domain name...

This is what I've noticed for many of my customer's website...
