Why do people use GoDaddy?

I have tried to use godaddy, but their site jumps from one thing to another, seemingly without sense or reason. I see that lots of people want to push domains to godaddy accounts, but when I have tried to use godaddy, I haven't been able to make any headway at all towards getting any domain names, or figuring out where everything is at. I use other hosting services, no problems, but godaddy, nothing but troubles.

it's popularity is due to the newbie facination with dana patrick, dressed in leather

Why do the general public use GoDaddy? Because they advertise.

Why do domainers use GoDaddy? Because http://www.namepros.com/domain-name-discussion/577802-godaddy-discount-codes.html

I would agree with that as well. It is true that they do advertise the most out of all the registrars. They offer a plethora of discounts on domains and hosting on a daily basis. I think too that people like the fact that they do offer free 24/7 support. Also they are known for using sex appeal, which to many is eye-candy and henceforth does attract all different types of people.

Bingo - its because of this, that even some of my friends who practically know nothing about domains, will tell you GoDaddy is the place to go to register one. Ask them to come up with a second company, and they would likely be stumped.

My personal use domains are at namecheap but godaddy is most popular (if you need to push to endusers) and has the most and best discount codes. If I can pay .99c vs $10-$20 for the same domain I am going to choose 99cents.

Saw a post with a registrar vanishing about a week ago with several namepros members having domains there, I dont think godaddy will dissapear any time soon. All godaddy needs to do is give me a good price and hold my domains until I sell them.

I think Godaddy's marketing targets the "John and Sally" type who don't know squat about domaining.

I don't use the site very much, but when I do, I admit it takes me a while to figure out where everything is... How John and Sally figure it out I'll never know.

1) because they cheap
2) because they cheap
3) because so many people using it (thus easier to push domain to a buyer then transfer from XYZ registrar
4) because their DNS is reliable (or was such)

I use GoDaddy for several reasons, but one major reason is end users.

I sell domains to end users and more end users use GoDaddy than most of the other registrars combined.

Prices are ok (they normally have coupons that work for everyone, otherwise they're not a cheap registrar) and when you need to renew names you see they can be pretty expensive lol, many noobs simply leave domaining cuz of renewals.....

Fun website (GO, DANICA ! WHAT A HOT BABE .....) w/those hot chicks and the NASCAR affiliation, smart marketing, at least for newer guys, after that I found that their API/UI is much better than most/all registrars, and the site has really easy navigation (unless you use them for parking, don't ....!)

Support is the pits ! LMFAO.... especially phone support (I am simply amazed with ppl who think otherwise, maybe you're too new to GD....)

Security is now considerably better with the double-auth at log-in, but other features are needed on that front.....

Being able to list easy on GD Auctions and get paid (have names moved from/to accounts) w/o hassle helps if the names are regged w/them, but many use GD Auctions for exposure too w/o having their names regged at YoDaddy......
