the problem lately has been the margins. with huge flippa upgrade fees, listing fees, commissions, paypal fees, escrow fees, bank wire fees, and on on...

I saw many sellers lost more than they earn! First is ofcourse the listing fee which is huge IMO, if one lists 10 domains & 4 of them sold for $4000, he will actually make nothing!

And if those domains are not reg fee, it's actually loss!

New member like me is even more confused, whether to take premium listing, featured listing or spotlight or nolight ... lol, on top of that there is trust deficit for new members so less watchers, less comments, less bids...........

I would not recommend bringing any of those to auction; UsedBoards.com was a nice sale, IMO.

Feel free to reach out to [email protected], and we'll recommend some strategies moving forward. That might include uploading domains to your Flippa Portfolio (for free), or starting 1-2 auctions to test the market (which we'd be happy to provide credits for). Just reach out, attn. @Devoir Funches

@FlippaDomains - haven't checked in awhile but:

https://flippa.com/domains/domain-auctions

The 4 auctions that are showing up first for me are all from the same seller. What's the strategy behind that for Flippa, do you think it's a good one for the rest of the people trying to sell on that platform, one seller getting the above the fold real estate. How does one get that? Is that an extra fee above the already Premium Listing fee or something?

Also, do you think you can have too many auctions? Said it months ago, think you started out right, then with mass freebies and free relistings, you don't think it can get too cluttered, making it less appealing to those with good domains? Do you think you're going down the Bido path?

Yesterday it was 10,413, today 11,019. Was curious what kind of jump it would take with the more freebies you're handing out.

I can't seem to quote and reply like I used to, but real quick --

@bltechno ~ "I saw many sellers lost more than they earn! First is ofcourse the listing fee which is huge IMO, if one lists 10 domains & 4 of them sold for $4000, he will actually make nothing!"

-- The math here does not make sense. Can you please elaborate?

@JB Lions ~ "The 4 auctions that are showing up first for me are all from the same seller. -- Nope, and good point. Those are Editors' Choice listings, considered our best inventory, but we will soon be de-prioritizing Ed. Choice from the top fold. So keep watch for that...

"Also, do you think you can have too many auctions?"

-- A good problem to have for a growing marketplace, but a problem nonetheless. We're actively figuring out a way to handle this. Improved search, and putting an end to our Birthday Month promos, which greatly stimulated the sell-side of business.

I highly, personally, recommend sorting via the Reserve Met and (my personal favorite) Ending Soon filters. If you try either, let me know what would make that experience better for you.

You behave like a newbee trying to understand Flippa but you already are a superseller there with 40 transactions totalling $11,306 makes me think this was a strategy post.
I Didn't act like a newbie, i started my post with.... i am on a losing streak....Plus i am constantly learning..The reason for the post is to pick up something i might have missed or may i am going on a wrong direction...and little bit frustration too:) Though i new here in namepros...

It's an arbitrary figure, I considered 40% success rate. I hope anyone would agree it's a good ratio. Now try doing the math with premium listing, I am sure you would understand.

I understand it has to be balance which should go in premium listing, which is standard listing etc, it's the game really. But fact is amongst the eye-catching 5-6 figure sales, most of the domains not making profit or least ROI.

Now if we average things out, all looks good.

BTW: I neither have agony nor disappointment with my personal experience yet, It just I too want to use premium listing or other premium services, just could not figure out the right direction.

For instance in an opinion Flippa Domain Support said one of my domain might sale around $100 with proper exposure.

I tried standard listing with that, didn't even received single bid !

Now my question what is proper exposure for a $100 potential sale ? Ultra Premium, Premium, Featured, Spotlight !?

The problem with domaining is that everybody thinks that their domain is worth $100,000.
PS: I am also a part of the "everybody"

And then when they dont sell for even $10 people blame the platform of being incapable of attracting the investors.
In India there is a saying "Khisiyani Billi Khamba Noche"
English Translation "An Embarrassed Cat Scratches the Pillar"

Well, with regards to flippa,
Intelligent domainers are making good money selling domains.
Intelligent Investors are buying the right domains.
All others are cribbing.

Selling domains is not only about putting it on flippa and buying an upgrade.
It is also about putting the right domain on flippa, at the right time and buying the right upgrades.

Putting a $200 domain and buying a $350 upgrade wont make it sell for $550.
Get the math right before buying any upgrade.
Get the domain right before doing the math.

Homepage listing stayed for 2 hrs because everyone got the $60 credit and everyone bought the homepage listing upgrade right away. One could have waited till the end of promotions to buy that upgrade. just like the Ant and the Grasshopper story. Store the resources for the right time.

@FlippaDomains Kevin, You might want to stop the birthday month promos but Id like to inform you that there are many of us storing the credits to be used at the right time. You might want to moderate the free give-aways to the right domains, but continuing with them would make a lot of people happy.

@FlippaDomains,
Interesting how you chose not to respond to the message with the highest amount of likes on this thread - mine ;)
If it has likes it means people relate to the issues presented and I'm not the only unlucky crybaby idiot that used Flippa.
...and maybe a response should be given.

But that's okay, it's your business, I'm just glad people are starting to figure out how it actually works.

Best of luck!

Ive had no success yet with Flippa, so probably just listing the wrong domains at the wrong time. I have been encouraged by some good bids though, so I guess thats why I have stuck around.

Not had any success on Flippa neither. I want to test namepros this month and see if it works better!
