I am seeing that quite a few of my domain names (that are only listed at Afternic) are for sale at GNAME for higher prices. WTF? Anyone know what is going on. Very shady.

I don't know the specifics of the custom agreements these high‑markup partners have with Afternic, but it wouldn't surprise me if every dollar above the Afternic BIN went directly to the partner, while everything below it went entirely to Afternic (with no commission/revenue split on that portion). In the end, it's a tailor‑made arrangement. Has anyone ever seen one of these contracts, or come across a leak?

Right Manos, I think the thing was we were never told this. I published an article on TheDomains.com and then all of a sudden Bob Mountain replied in the comments and the T.O.S. got updated in a backdated fashion. My first point was no one tells you this upfront, why? We all know why.

The optimal solution would be to just remove the markup.
Cos opt out decreses the exposure for sure right?

Almost 6 years ago to the day Joe Styler wrote on TheDomains.com

Selling domains is competitive and having your domains show up for sale on the various partner sites costs money. For some partners the juice isn’t worth the squeeze without the additional mark up. I will not discuss any specific financial arrangements but think along the lines of a partner who has other partners or resellers or sub accounts and all of them need a revenue split. The more ways the commission is split maybe it is not enough left to pay for the dev work, the anti-fraud teams, etc that go into it to make it worthwhile to show your domain for sale. No business wants to operate at a loss and while it may seem like the commission is high on the outside, there are real costs associated with displaying and selling the domains.

That's a typical Joe reaction, indeed.
