domain Why are my domains not worth anything?

I have gotten very discouraging opinions on my domains. I guess what I would like to know is why are my domains not worth anything especially these below. What am I doing wrong?


phattodeath.com - It's commonly used to describe a nicely shaped derriere. The phrase "phat to death" is very big in the hip hop community. It means nice, or tight (awesome). It could mean anything that looks good...cars, women, clothes, etc.

Investincomfort.com - Can be geared towards investments, hotels, beds, pillows, etc.

marketinguse.com - Branding and Marketing, etc.

harajukumodels.com - harajuku fashions are very popular in Japan and is working its way to the US.

You guys may be right that my names are not good for resell, but I think it depends on the right person at the right time, because I see names that I feel are way worse than mine and they seem to sell for good money.

More opionions please!!!!

Ask yourself and be really honest.....Can you really see people typing those in as keywords? Do you know anyone who has ever searched for something under those headings? I suspect the answer is no.....That is the reason why you are being told that these are not good domain names. A domain has to be made up of words that are short,concise,meaningful and used by people on a daily basis to have any value.

For the most part, domains have value only if there is someone who can use the domain to generate revenue. Although "phattodeath" may be a common term, can it be used to generate revenue? If you think so, write down what type of businesses you feel could use this domain in their industry. Then seek out these companies/individuals and let them know how they can benefit by owning this domain. The domains you listed just are not very marketable.

Put yourself in others Shoes. Observe what others are buying and why domains are being bought. Most of the domainers start the same way as yours, but dont loose heart. Stay for a while and you will get better. Good luck.

Flamingobay.com recently sold for over $4000 and mynorth sold for over a $1000 and when I think of keywords and words being marketable - I don't see how these words pass the test, but oh well, I have a lot of learning to do.

One of the reasons domain names sell (besides investment grade names like generics) is because a business wants to use that domain for development. As pointed out by the above members, domains that sell are domains that can generate revenue. These 3 names, although not terribly bad, would require intense branding to work.

I personally like InvestInComfort.com because I think its a solid phrase that Im sure a national advertiser would use, in order to sell high end mattresses or something like. Now, if the domain had been ComfortableMattresses.com that wouldbe substancially better, because that partiular term is sought out. Thats the biggest difference in your domain names.

The question here is how commercially viable the domains are and unfortunately, im not seeing a lot of options, but at the same time I also dont mind HarajukuModels. However, the term made popular by Gwen Stefani is Harajuku Girls.

I would value the two I listed in the low to mid xx realm. However, if the right end-user came along (and there is a chance) both could fetch high xxx to x,xxx.

I personally like InvestInComfort.com. I've seen lots of companies coming up with innovative advertisement campaigns that use such names. Could be either a high end mattress maker or even some investment firm. Hold onto this one.

I think I’m actually getting it now slowly but surely.
Out of the 4 domains listed above I would have to say that I like InvestInComfort.com and Harajukumodels.com the most as well, so that was a bit of encouraging news to hear.

I will actually hold on to a few of my domains until a great offer comes along. Now I just need to figure out how to sell the rest of these domains:

sumptuoussimplicity.com - Home Interior design
hotelsinbetween.com - (In my job I am always looking for hotels in between certain locations.) This website will narrow the search.
iamhere4u.com - A website for those who need someone to listen to their problems and/or offer a solution.
friendshipcontract.com - Not a binding contract of course, but just an assurance that I will be there for you to listen and/or give advice in your time of need.
fromwelfaretowork.com - (Website filled with inspirational stories about people who made it off of welfare and how they did it.)
celebfleamarket.com - (Website for celebrities to donate items to be sold to help those in need)
