I'm putting whoisonline.net back on the market again after it has gotten too large for me to handle. The site provides a free users online counter which tallies the number of people currently on your website and then displays the number of people online. (ie: 500 Users online ).

Please read the description before you crap out the thread. This is a free service for other webmasters to use on their site. If someone uses the script on their page that is a Unique visit. If they reload and reload and reload that is a couple page views. There are tons of sites using the service as noted in the desription and link a link provided to the listing. Please do you research before making uneducated comments. That counter is only for the MAIN index page.

I can't believe your hostility at a genuine concern as a veteran NPer. If thousands of webmasters use the service everyday but never visits the site, would you consider them as "unique visitors"?

Would you buy banner ads on my site based on 200k visitors/day that never see your ads or based on the 3k/mth that actually sees them?

Even the incoming links from "member sites" are temporary, which is why marketleap shows less than 50 incoming links for your site and it only has PR3 ...strange for a site than receives 200k visitors/day dontcha think?!

And I know exactly how it works because I own a copy of this $25 script too!

Those are considered unique because the buyer of the site may choose to add a popup or small banner. Links to the site are based on a JAVASCRIPT code which isn't a <a href link which a search engine would read properly off. If you are concerned look at the site list, VIEW each of those sites and see the users online counter that link back to whoisonline.net.
