is the whois not "automatic" with the change of owners?
how long does it takes for data to change?

my reg says this:
" If you want to apply these changes to any of your existing DomainName
WHOIS info please enter the list of names here."

seems to indicate the whois...doesnt even change until you request them to do so?
is this a correct interpretation?

it is difficust to say that, some of reg allow you to modify it by youself, but some not. before registration, you'd better to have a check.

No, it isn't automatic. It depends on the existing (or receiving) registrar's procedures. In enom, when pushing a domain to another account, there's an option to "push whois info" or "don't push whois info". If you select the former, then the whois info won't change; if the latter, then whois info will change to that of the recipient account's default whois data.
