Everybody please click this so this sucker stays regged !
Nice job. I submitted a study of 9 related domains taken by either Chesterton Holdings via Name King or Wang Lee via Capitol Domains, Domain Doorman and Belgium Domains to Jay at NameIntell (whois.sc/Domaintools) in hopes he could address the registry or whomever on this whois hijacking issue.

One comment in the article mentioned in this thread rang a bell
The reader who brought all this to my attention called aplus.net, which told her that Chesterton Holdings monitors whois requests, and that's how they learn which domains to register.
I wouldn't put it past Aplus.net to be selling access to the whois queries. They were the same company that ripped off $thousands using a pre-registration scheme in one of the landrushes without ever submitting a single name.

No the trick is to make them register thousands of junk domains and make sure that in the 5 day grace period those domains get a decent number of hits. After the 5 days drop them like a bag of rocks.

True, but it would flood their system and they do have to pay for the domains at first, right, and get their money back later? This coudl have a negative effect on them if enough people did it.

However, they would probably find a work-around. :(

Except, they don't get charged for the domain registration if they delete it within 5 days. They're just playing this 5 day float period to see if anyone emails them and wants to buy it, or to see if the domain gets enough traffic to make it worth keeping it.
Where's the cnet domain search page?

EDIT: Looks like cnet closed their domain search, and fast. The search page used to be at http://reviews.cnet.com/4002-6551_7-5116058.html , but that page now forwards to their homepage.

Now that the CNet domain search page has gone, where can we search for domains that chesterton holdings will snap up? :)

:bingo:

i second that, its easy to set up, just have several ppl click 2-3 times a day during the first 5 days, then they keep it pay the fees and no traffic .......

On 8th June I checked saniamirzaonline.com and it was available. To avail free private registration from GD, I had to search 2 more available domains. When I started the registration within half an hour, saniamirzaonline.com was registered a few minutes ago.

Here is the whois
http://whois.domaintools.com/saniamirzaonline.com

This is just one incident, even when my keyword/domain choice is very poor.

The above links are for chesterholdingsbuttmonkey.com and not for chestertonholdingsbuttmonkey.com

chesterholdingsbuttmonkey.com was dropped and picked up again yesterday 7-26 by another taster. My guess is after chesterton robots pick a name up and taste it, the names that get hits are put under a human review, and something this obvious got caught. Then the other tasters pick them up for 5 days. Also see a pattern where chesterton or wang lee et al will pick up names from whois searches and taste for 5 days, then drop and often re-reg for another taste. Now what is there to stop them from continually dropping/tasting/dropping/tasting as long as clicks happen, without actually costing them anything?

Now maybe we can get a few people to search for

chesterholdingsbuttmonkey2.com :hehe:

Outlaw, you seem to be right right.

I agree. Search a slew of 60 character nonsensical .coms and then click them for 5 days (just don't click the ads).

I have a search script that's free to use here:

www.domaining360.com/tools.html

There's also links to OVT and other resources below the search tool.

You can view the code. It doesn't record searches.

Thanks Phronesis. Nice script.

Just an FYI, I encourage folks to continue to use tools such as Whois.sc. Just change the main keyword up. It usually spins the same related words under topic heading.

Chesterton Holdings maybe Smart Asses but they are not that smart. They picked up a couple of .com's with 10 - 15 Ovt. + ext but the real sites were .gob.ccTld's. The .com.ccTld's were available with about 280 and 350 Overture and are now in my account producing $10.00 + a day. :)
