I find it very interesting with the millions of dollars of Marketing budgets each NFL team has, who out of these 8 teams left in the Playoffs owns their single word exact match domain, and who has just settled with a much less valuable 2-worder...

Probably could do a article on NHL, NBA and the soccer leagues..all big budget sports teams!

Wondering what happens if someone types in the whole team name.. ( IndianapolisColts)
    "Colts own Colts.com.
    Chiefs own Chiefs.com.
    Chargers own Chargers.com.
    Patriots own Patriots.com
    "

Do these teams use redirects or are the long form names protected by "TM's"

Just typed all 4 of them in along with their city name and looks like only Chargers and Patriots own their 2-worders with their city name.
    SanDiegoCargers.com forwards to Chargers
    NewEnglandPatriots.com forwards to Patriots.com

Yeah, I agree, could post a few great articles with ALL Sports leagues and their teams domain names.
    That would be cool.

    lol, Doh! You're right!
Just typed in LosAngelesChargers.com and it forwarded to LAChargers.com and it ends up being a fan site owned by a guy named Norman..

"My name is Norman, and I live a secret life. It’s time for me to admit this to the world…”

I do not speak for the Chargers organization or the NFL, but I hope to be the forum for Charger fans..."

I think this is relevant ... I own a domain name that applies to this discussion that I would like to unload. Baltimore-ravens.com

I think they are doing pretty well this year.

Ok.. I did not know that until now. I don't follow football that much. I saw this thread and remembered that I had that domain name. I wish I could get it in the hands of a fan that would actually use it for something worthwhile.

Patriots also own Pats.com. I believe they bought it a little over a year ago.

Eagles.com sat undeveloped all the way up until 2015, when the Eagles band launched their website

Remember that if the site is to be related to football, that creating anything but a ZERO REVENUE fan site is going to attract the wrath of the NFL legal department (and even then you might have copyright issues depending on content). So effectively anyone who gets it from you would never be allowed to put any advertising or collect money in any way. So at the end of the day you have extremely little chance of making any money from the sale of it at all. Plus it's got a hyphen in it .. so it's worth less than nothing. It's a 100% drop in my opinion.

    The Patriots also own NEPatriots.com

I guess the Saints and the Rams don't own their EMD. It looks like the Rams.com domain is for sale and is taking offers over 500K. The Saints.com domain doesn't look like it's for sale...but I could be wrong.

I wonder if those two NFL teams have made offers on the names.

The NFL loves the billions in TV revenues, but they are so incredibly cheap it's not even close to funny.

Remember when Cowboys.com up for auction, where the Dallas Cowboys bid $275,000, and only *after* being advised they won the auction, the 'Boys tried to backtrack and stated they really wanted to bid $275 instead. Yes, forgetting those 3 extra zeroes in $275,000 was their official excuse. Even funnier, they paid a $499 fee just to take part in the auction which had an opening bid of $225,000. Hmmmmm.

I don't know what's more stupid, not understanding how basic numbering works or thinking you might actually be able to scam Cowboys.com for $275. So they're either morons or scam artists.
