OK, I do understand this here...

The Registrant Info for WHOIS.TV
Registrant:
Verisign Inc.
21355 Ridgetop Circle
Dulles, VA 20166
US

Domain name: WHOIS.TV

Registrar of Record: TUCOWS, INC.
Record last updated on 04-Oct-2010.
Record expires on 14-Nov-2012.
Record created on 14-Nov-2001.

OK, Verisign owns Whois.tv - makes sense.

But check this out...
Who owns WHO.TV?
I would assume Verisign does of course but look at this Registrant Info:

Domain Name: WHO.TV
Registrar: .TV RESERVED DOMAINS
Whois Server: not defined
Referral URL: not defined
Name Server: No nameserver
Status: SERVER-XFER-PROHIBITED
Updated Date: 18-mar-2010
Creation Date: 18-mar-2010
Expiration Date: 18-mar-2011

I feel like I should know this, but I honestly have no clue.
I thought ALL Dot TV names were released as of Mar. 18th except for the ones Verisign owns, but as you can clearly see, this info doesn't state that. It states ".TV Reserve Domains"

and which other names are still ".TV Reserved Domains" if you know of any?

any idea?

Thx,
Vito

Someone here told me that probably these names are reserved for the next auction. Dunno really

They are reserved by the registry. I've encountered several domains over the last few months that are reserved for whatever purpose. Air.TV is another one if I remember correct.

Tax.tv is another

Of the 676 possible 2-letter names some 427 are .Tv reserve domains.

eg...
ac.tv
ae.tv
ah.tv
ak.tv
al.tv
ao.tv
aq.tv
ar.tv
as.tv
aw.tv
ax.tv... plus a complete list

They are no doubt being lined up for a super auction som epoint down the line but certainly help the few remaining 2-letter .tv have extra value.

Thx for the info.

I honestly had no idea that there were still multiple names held on reserve at the TV registry.

TwoMoon, It doesnt make too much sense for them to hold UA.TV in reservs since the half dozen or so that I have checked (A.TV, E.TV, I.TV, V.TV, X.TV, etc) single letter TV's are regged currently.

What are those guys thinking over there - lol

The only thing that makes sense is that they MAY be planning another auction???

ThreeD - AIR.TV??? if I worked there, I think I would have reserved a few of my Dot TV's before reserving Air.tv! lol

Thx,
Vito

edit...

I just saw your Post Jimbo.

Thx for the info of all the 2-L.Tv's reserved
I knew YOU would be on top of it :)

So, In order for verisign to have another auction they would have to make sure there are a certain amount of existing premium TV's that have just been regged. They sure seem to be going fast, so i would expect that potential auction to happen soon...maybe another April auction is in order.

I saw some 2 letters dot TV still RESERVED!

Most likely to auction at $5K-$25K price range.

As if they don't make enough with the premium regs and the forced $35 renewals.

I thought these games were behind us as far as TV goes.

Weird.
