Who has tried a Domain Buy Agent?

Hey all :)

We've been trying to contact the owner of a domain that we want to buy without any luck for about a year now. Has anyone tried the godaddy domain buy agent thing? We don't really have high hopes that they'd be able to aquire the domain for us, but we're getting desperate.

The owner of the domain resides in Japan, so it isn't exactly a walk in the park, if you know what I mean. Godaddy charges only $59 so it's not a big amount of cash to waste if they can't get the work done.

Are there any other reliable solutions that you guys know of? Thanks!! :xf.love: NP!

Godaddy's useless in that department. Is the name parked? Maybe it's just not for sale.. You could always hire a translator and send him an email in Japanese -- that'd probably show you're interested (but also that you have alot of disposable income). You could try phoning his whois info, or sending him a letter via snail mail...

Good Luck :)

Dont bother with GD's system. Its less useful then any basic domainer. Do some homework and your better off and you get to save your money.

Another option? Hire a domainer on here to get negotiations rolling. Im sure you'll find a Japanese domainer in this forum somewhere.

thanks for your quick reply Reece. No the domain is not parked. It has contained the same error message for almost two years so I doubt the domain is in use :( A translator could be one option, the whole situation is just really frustrating.

Spade, good call. We use godaddy for our domain registrations but that's it. Do you know of any japanese NP domainer that you could recommend?
