Tim Berners-Lee

In 1989, Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web, an Internet-based hypermedia initiative for global information sharing while at CERN, the European Particle Physics Laboratory. He wrote the first web client and server in 1990. His specifications of URIs, HTTP and HTML were refined as web technology spread.

He is Director of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), a Web standards organization founded in 1994 that develops interoperable technologies (specifications, guidelines, software, and tools) to lead the Web to its full potential. He is a founding Director of the Web Science Trust (WST) launched in 2009 to promote research and education in Web Science, the multidisciplinary study of humanity connected by technology. Berners-Lee is also a Director of the World Wide Web Foundation, launched in 2009 to coordinate efforts to further the potential of the Web to benefit humanity.

"Rick Schwartz" is recognized in domaining industry, it is only because he sold big $$$$$$$$$$ names. Most people goes by what his bank account said. If you have lots of these $$$$$$, in some people minds you are a king of everything; that is all about it.

each person will have their own reasons as to who they regard as key people in the domain name industry

purely my own opinion based on the people i noticed to be key people in the domain name industry when i took an interest in
domain names

their is only a domain name industry because of the vision of people such as frank and rick and Monte having the foresight to think about domain names as a long term investment back in the day when the majority of people didn't know what a domain name as etc

plus without the advances of registrars like gd among others for making it easy for us t buy and sell domain names

dn journal etc for making people aware of the weekly sales of domains etc which will have tempted a few in to buying domains etc

plus the many people making YouTube videos on domain name investing like Michael cyger and others

then you have investing strategies like buying quality for the long term
