hello, :)

I need some tip to improve my english language skill. The problem is that when I review what I have wrote, I correct it until it sounds good (I am understanding it and it make sense) :imho:

At this point from my point of view it is impossible to say if it is bad: because it sounds right to me... I don't know if I am rendering the idea...

Well, even after all that job, I see that often some people are kidding about my english... :-/ (mostly they are nice, and I consider it as a sign of friendship)

That's why I am asking some suggestion to my english friends here.

Can you tell me in your opinion what it is the thing that I should to do , in order to improve the language?

Please avoid generic comments like
" back to school"
"study a good grammar"...
"there is nothing to do for you" and so forth
:hehe:

P.S. I also thinking to give some NP$ prize and add a rep , but for the moment I can't since I have no idea about the comment, so for now please just consider it

just a little help from a friend. :p

I am serious about this one, read some quality novels. They help alot with the sentence construction and writing styles.

Another one: Make a habit of reading 5-10 words from the dictionary with meaning DAILY. It can be from random places in a dictionary It will increase your vocabulay by approximately 7 words every day and in a year you will have the knowledge of about 2555 (7x365) new words.

English is not my first language and I know what you must be experiencing. I am a much better english speaker than I used to be and the above mentioned techniques did help alot.

yeah reading quality books is always helpful, thats why most schools make you read and interpret them. u shud also try to read reviews that have already been written. always have a dictionary on hand so that u can look up any words if u dont noe wut they mean. also, u mite wanna google some ESL (english as second language) tips that cud help u with grammer/mechanics. i also suggest u read in the forums to pick up on idiomatic phrases that may not make sense to u.

good luck, just dont get frustrated. english is considered to be one of the hardest languages to learn.

thanks guys :)

but these are too much generic suggestions
.
I want to understand what I would have to improve " in the way I am writing already".

for istance, would you say what about the way I am writing this post? Is it correct or is it bad?

I see two problems in your posts... Its SPELLING and PUNCTUATION.

With regards to spelling, you sometimes forget to use capital letter on the first word of a new sentence and you use the wrong spellings i.e. "istance" from the previous post.

You are often missing punctuation marks which make your sentence sound flat. For instance take this line from your first post:

-------------------
At this point from my point of view it is impossible to say if it is bad: because it sounds right to me
-------------------

If you could add some ',' (commas) it would make more sense and sound much better, for example:

-------------------
At this point, from my point of view, it is impossible to say if it is bad because it sounds right to me.
-------------------

Another thing is that you use too many "...". According to my teacher, this is also considered a punctuation mistake when used out of place.

Spelling can only be corrected by reading more. It surely helps with the spelling because you will be reading a whole lot of words with correct spellings.

As for punctuation, you might need to go and buy an English grammar book which contains meaning of each punctuation and where to use it.

Last but not least, practise your writing.

I hope this helped.

Watch movies with original English sound and English subtitles. Also listening to music and reading the lyrics helped me a lot.

Your writing skills are fairly good considering that english isn't your first language. What you need to pay attention to while typing away and formulating a thread/post/reply is your sentence stucture and this includes punctuation. At the moment you're lacking commas, periods and capital letters. Commas are used as a pause in a sentence (ie it gives you time to take a breath), periods are placed at the end of every sentence and capital letters are placed at the beginning of every new sentence.

It's been mentioned several times in this thread and though you don't seem to be too keen on the idea, but reading good classic english novels will help you immensely. It's how I learned. I was unable to understand, speak or write any english until I was roughly 7-8yrs old (french is my mother tongue). When I got into junior high (grade 7-8) an english class was introduced into our curriculum at school and I struggled my way through it until I hit high school and decided that reading english novels might be a way to help me understand not just the grammar but oh so much more. I sat down with my novel and with my trusted dictionary by my side I slowly but surely I progressed.

Whichever course you decide to take to help you along, I wish you luck and remember practice, practice and pratice some more. :)
