Each country is going to be different. If you're not a global company, the ccTLD for the country you operate in should be fine. I was in Greece recently and most businesses used .gr.
In some countries their ccTLD isn't widely used in lieu of another TLD (think USA, we use .com, not .us). In that case, or if you're a global company, .com first and foremost, then consider .net, .org, .co. If you're a gaming company, .gg can work. If you're AI then .ai, tech is .io, crypto is .xyz, apps can use .app, .vc for venture capital.
The size of your company matters too. If you're a small and local brick and mortar business, the extension won't matter as much.
The more you are based online the more important your domain TLD will be since your company is based on your online presence rather than your physical presence.
