Hi guys

Im a web developer here in the UK. Ive acquired a number of domains recently and will be making sites for each one, with affiliates and adsense on each one i hope to build up a small portfolio which will generate income.

I acquired a generic domain in three different TLDs, .COM .NET & .CO.UK which is the site i want to launch first. The affiliates i deal with with regards to the content are all based in the UK apart from Adsense.

Which site would you launch, the .COM or the .UK if you wanted to rank well in UK?

If the .COM site ranked well in US, it would only bring in Adsense money as US folk wouldnt be buying the products im promoting from the UK, they could easily buy them in the US. Ive also thought about using Amazon affiliate links to capture some of the US market if i did go with the .COM, but the commission from the UK affiliates is better than Amazon, so would like to concentrate on these for the main source of income for this site.

Would you point the other 2 domains at the one launched? Would you put the same site on each domain? Or shall i park the other 2?

Any help will be appreciated on this one, im kinda new to domaining but im an experienced web designer. Im trying to fuse the two to make some money :)

If your target market is only UK, then go for a uk extension, it works.

Well thats what i thought, although I wont reveal the name just yet, the term will rank well in the US and the .COM is the most valuable of the 2, it was this that i wanted to try get the traffic to then whether i flip it or not remains to be seen.

Would a .COM not rank as well in UK? Should i look at US affiliates in the same market place and try and merge the two to gain extra clicks. The global market is too big to ignore, even if its just for the Adsense clicks.

Ill do as recommended tho, just be a bit sad to see the .COM sat parked when it was this i wanted to increase the value on.

I recommend .uk extension because choosing more specific domains will be very helpful for long run as well as by seeing the domain users should be in a position to know what it is about and from which it belongs too..!

If you're solely targetting the UK then definitely opt for either a .co.uk or .org.uk, both extensions will give you a boost in the SERPs for an exact match term.

However, .com, .net and .org will have a similar effect, so it depends on what's available really. Prime example, type in "SEO Liverpool" into Google UK, ranking no.1 for that term is http://www.seoliverpool.net. This term accounts for over 1,000 exact match searches per month in the UK.

Similarly, type Aweber Review and check out the competition around this term. The site ranking in second position for this term is aweberreview.org (I own the .com, wooohooo!).

The site, aweber.org, has 70+ backlinks pointing in. While this is a decent number of backlinks, check out the competition.

For uk use .co.uk

Point the other domains to it - or else develop them as standalone sites, but avoid duplicate content.

This is what im going to do. I have bought all three to cover the name, and i could sell them as a package if I decide to flip it.

Thanks for your help guys.
