Which suffix for a forum?

Hey guys,

I am going to start an experimental forum regarding a certain subject, I have no idea if it will catch on or not, so for now I want to start with just one domain.

My question is: if you had any one of the domains to choose below, which one of them would you choose?
  • SubjectForum.com
  • SubjectForums.com
  • SubjectTalk.com
  • SubjectBoard.com
  • SubjectBoards.com

Really what this all boils down to is trying to decide which forum-related suffix I should get for the domain. Forum, forums, talk, board, or boards? Which one is going to be the most widely-searched and more likely to bring in visitors?

Honest advice appreciated,
Thanks;
Andrew

I'd go with the 1st one, SubjectForum.com

if it's just one forum, go with the SubjectForum.com format by a longshot.

I like forum or talk, if you go forum I would grab forums as well and redirect it to forum as you may grab a few people searching for your category forums.

My turn:

Forum, Talk, Forums :)

"Talk" is my favorite, and actually in many cases I love the Talk____.com format best.

I've run a good number of Talk____ forums, and I just think the format has a nice ring to it.

For me:

forum, talk, forums, chat, board, boards, discussion.

In that order.

No doubt, abcFORUM is the best.

Usually the first one is good. So I would prefer for instance ChessForum.com over others. On the other hand when the subject is different, for instance CinemaForum.com doesn't sound cool to me. I would prefer cinetalk.com over CinemaForum.com or CinemaTalk.com or anything else.

I like talk then forums.

This can depend on your target audience, more experienced web users know what a forum is whereas newer users are more likely to look for chat or talk. Personally I like the talk format talkABC.com or ABCtalk.com.

If you plump for forum you need to get the forums version also, this is because ABCforum.com is likely to be typed in and ABCforums.com is more SEO friendly as it picks up searches for both forum and forums.

SubjectTalk.com

Lets them know what its about and gives it abit of a branded feel as well. I likes.

Great thread, maybe you could turn it into a poll to get a better overview? :)

I prefer SubjectForums.com and SubjectTalk.com. And then there's also TalkSubject.com.

Forum is the best but if you own it then its probably good to own the plural also to redirect it to the singular.
