This is not a promotional thing.. I would like some advice from some of you that may have been in a similar situation

This domain is a bit of a Spicy Nature.

This name is no longer in the fixed price area, that was back in September 17 of last year but then took it out because I don't want any problems if the traffic fades away like it could.

At one time this name was on fire with searches because of the publicity the subject was getting from various really big sources like CNN Headline News, Howard Stern and many others.

I had thought the traffic was gone but it's not, I logged into my typePad account yesterday and I've gotten 18,266 Views in 7 Days at the time of this thread. On Thursday January 15th it got 11023 views, It's only 1 page so these views are on the one page. Looks like it spiked back up when several articles came out on January 12, 2009 that 'Natalie Dylan' now has Offers Of Up To $3.7 Million.

When I check the referrer it mostly shows the name it's self meaning it would be direct type in. I didn't believe that it's direct type in so I looked around on google for a few minutes and discovered that.....On igoogle when I type in the first 9 of the 12 letter domain with no spaces it has a drop down with the domain name in it so I'm guessing this is where the traffic is coming from but I'm not sure.

I'm lucky to make anything at all from the adsense...

What I'd like to know is,

1. Is there a site that will tell me where my traffic is coming from and find out what keywords are triggering the link for people?

2. With the site dependent on news from other sources is it even worth fooling with? If YES then what do you say I should do with it?

If you put a counter on the site (like StatCounter), you can track your stats, IPs, etc. through your counter site.

Also check your adsense just to make sure someone isn't click bombing your site. If you see evidence of that, let Google know so that they don't think you're engaging in click fraud.

I almost lost my adsense account because some jerk click bombed one of my sites.

There's been some recent posts people have left so I'm thinking the visits must be real and the timing of the news articles and visits are right on.

Google Analytics works beautifully for this:
http://www.google.com/analytics

It provides traffic and traffic source stats in graphical forms galore.

I do use google analytics but have never added it to a blog, I'll definitely check into how to add it to the TypePad blogs.

I'd go with statcounter.com too, simple to use and shows you referring links, entry pages, visitor map etc

You could check the domains keywords in Google news using "the keywords" and thedomain.com , maybe someone has made a mistake and posted your domain in a news article ?? ...it happens

I would also check to see if your domain has recently been taken in another extension at somewhere like eurodns.com.

Not sure if this what you mean but the .com .net .info .org have been taken.

Never knew until tonight statcounter could do all that. D-:

Looked it up on google news and it looks like it is in 2 seperate sites there.

If the traffic keeps coming I guess I'll have to have something a little nicer developed but my guess is that it will go up and down with the headlines, not be steady and all be gone at some point :'(

Be a lot more exciting if I were making $ from it. I may try to park it and see what happens. I'm guessing it will lose the traffic if I park it so it probably won't matter.

Could I have a more positive attitude?
