When is enough, enough?

Hi Guys,

Just doing a bit of sole searching at the moment. When is it time to give up and cut your loses at runnign a forum?

My site

football talk . org (all in one word obviously). Ive been trying to get started for ages. I had it going ok and now most my members have left and dont come back. Ive spent quite a bit on the site around $400 and would be lucky if ive made $10 through adsense since it has been running.

The site is starting to get me down as i just dont know what direction to go in. Ive tried my best and it dont seem good enough.

If anyone can help me in any way, shape or forum id be greatful. Its my dream to own a forum on football as good as Namepros. I just aint sure where to start.

How about just letting it sit there for a while?
The only money you will have to spend is on hosting, and that's not alot.

Build up some natural links, post in similar forums and just let some natural traffic come in.
See how it goes from there

you can also offer people $NP to put your link in their sig, look arround for similar sites see if yu can advertise on there...

I think you should just keep it open. Try to add 10 new topics a day (or reply to 10 topics). this would be the minimum in my opinion to keep it active. Promote all the time ...

Not great advice but i know someone who posted constant links on the bbc website message board about there forum now they have a busy forum problem is they ban you.

Well ive made a hell of a load of changes and have work 6 hours + on the site so far today so i can add new content to the site so its not just the forums...

All the topics will be around football/soccer and i hope it will do well. Once i get the content hopefully the users will follow!

Build the merchandising side up, there are several good football jersey affiliate programs out there. Create a shopping center, then under that create one page per football team, and under that one page for every different product for that football team. In that way you have a much, much better way of bringing in visitors who are looking for relevant products. Some of them will drift on, some will buy commission generating products and others will join your forum...... The larger your site, the larger PR you will generate, the more SEO related traffic will arrive.

Some very intresting ideas. Liek the shop idea. Im trying to get all the site SEO friendly and will hopefully look at buying vbSEO eventually but the price tag is pretty high for it.

All the new things im adding have to be SEO friendly to get better search engine rank right?

My site is a PR5 at updat not sure how the site has such a high PR though.
