What's up with Enom?

I registered a COM.MX with enom, and after one week they still didn't get the name for me. A tech tried to help me, but the issue couldn't be resolved. I finally just went ahead and registered directly with WWW.NIC.MX. The site was in Spanish, so I used babelfish to get through the forms.

About twelve hours ago I registered two new .com domains, again through enom. Until now, Network solutions claims that these two domains are still free.

In both cases enom charged me appropriate fees for the domains.

Anyone know what's going on with enom?

Regards,

Apollo

Yeah,

When registering com's it can take a full twenty four hours before it shows up in somebody's whois. I say somebody's whois because Netsol's whois is notoriously slow at updating information. Their whois can go months/years before updating. I had an issue with them on this very thing when they were the only register in town. I did get it fixed, but only after a whole lot of phone calls/emails. Even ICANN in their wet noodle capacity has tried to get them to shape up.

Even though it doesn't show up in Netsol's database, it really doesn't matter as no-one will be able to register it anyway. The only time you have to worry about what Netsol's whois says is if you are a turkey and _you have domains with them_ .

But the same principle applies, you only worry about the whois of the registrar you are using.

I don't know about MX though, but if enom is a second source for MX it could take up a week for it to show in another (enoms) whois. I don't think this is an anomally. The software for the root servers is the same, and nobody will be able to register the name even if it doesn't show up in a whois.

As long as you can trust enom to follow through, that is. :P

Thanks, Electro. The missing .com's finally showed up after 24 hours. As for com.mx, registering directly at the source (nic.mx) meant that the domain was available (almost) immediately.

More Enom "issues" today, as well (here in this "Discussions Forum"). :o
Thanks.
