I want to register a .co.uk and would like to know where the cheapest place to do so is?

$18.95 at GoDaddy for 2 years, which isn't bad.
$16.90 2 years at WWD Reseller minimum (I think), so maybe check some WWD resellers and see what they have the prices at.

Try 123-reg.co.uk they dont accept paypal so that might be a problem,they are less than $7 for a name but its in £

If you don't plan to re-sell it or transfer it after a while try Network Solutions.

The price ($13.98 for 2 years) and the service (fast e-mail replies) is great BUT you cannot transfer it within or out from Network Solutions. (see my problem HERE )
