This site needs a development plan. Let's help suggest ideas for what it could be or should be. Think outside the box if you want to. What could be done with this?

Would you do a blog? a forum? a portal? a shop? a directory? a social network? all the above? none of the above? What else am I missing from these ideas so far?

A drink testing/review blog. You and other users can submit reviews on different brews (drinks, beer, coffee, whatever).

I agree. People can be fanatical about beer.
Reviews/user reviews, directories, I think it has great potential.

I also agree it has to be about beer. I'd stay away from a diy userbase here. Go straight for a commercial feel. The name is too good to waste on a goofy blog with user reveiws how to's and the like. Maybe a very professional blog with an "accredited" (by someones standards) beer taster reviewing various microbrew competitions that he's judged or something like that.

Stay away from just one brand, and try to keep the site universal. Multiple breweries competing for prominent placement on your site will pay better. Perhaps look up a few recent competitions and contact the judges. Maybe you can swindle a few of them into writing an article about their beer experience for your site. Do the same with each of the breweries who entered the competitions. They'll love the free press on your site and you can use thier press release as content. At least you can interview some of these folks and write an article about them.

I guess as I'm honing my idea I'd say to make the site a documentary of the microbrew beer industry. I think lots of guys who are really into beer would find that an interesting read and it would target exactly who your advertisers want to sell to. (better targeting means better pay)

At the very least it would be a good excuse to spend a couple of days visiting the local breweries. "Its research honey!"

well, the obvious option would be to give it to me for free :tu:

j/k, I think a magazine style or a "wiki like" would do the trick, esp if you know about marketing, just lmk if you need any help on the matter :)
