So I get an email from Enom yesterday saying:

Dear Premium .tv Portfolio Owner,

Effective immediately, all available Premium .tv names have been re-launched* with several
exciting changes:

A drastically reduced price on new Premium .tv registrations
For new Premium .tv names registered on or after March 19th, 2010, the renewal price will be the same as standard, non-premium .tv domains.
These names will not last long. Grab your names today.

So I go to Dynadot and spend a long time finding names for "standard" renewal price! DUH.

[NAMES REMOVED]

Then I go to sleep thinking I've done my best. Busy day, Huh?

Only to find today tons of messages in my account saying e.g. "Unfortunately, we have deleted the domain *****.tv from your account. This is because *****.tv is a Premium .TV Domain. The actual registration price for *****.tv is $390.00 per year. The domain ****.tv has been deleted as well. The Premium .TV Domain price for ****.tv is $300.00."

WHAT THE HELL!

What happened to "standard" renewal fees??? Is this some kind of a sick joke?

Oh and to top it off Dynadot says "our payment for the domains have been credited to your account balance."

Bloody great! A couple of Ks just spent is now locked in my friggin Dynadot account???? No names at all to show? Just a couple of Ks down the drain unless I start regging useless stuff!

This is bloody awful. :'(

Knowing you, I'm sure your 31 will be stellar. :)
I got a few I have always wanted too, I'm keeping just as quiet,
with my fingers crossed.

and your Premiums, Congrats.
Baking is awesome!

Thanks! There are a few I wanted that I couldn't get in time. Do you know where I can check the whois on .tv names? I tried at enom, but it says the names are not available.

The enom whois, and domain tools are the only two I ever use.
Some of these .tv's are taking a real looong time to resolve.

If you're looking to reg more names...
Good Luck.
Every other Registrar says one thing, then the next one contradicts the first.
There will be a ton of the same domain being reged multiple times, and a lot of credits this week.

not looking to reg more, just trying to find out who owns a couple of the names I wanted and see if they would make a trade.

I think what the whole situation is, names people are calling Goldrush got declassified as a premium. So you can have the name. The Landrush names were glitches at other registrars beside ENOM that allowed premiums to be regged for non premium. Those names are getting the email about pay the premium or drop the name.

Utter bullshit

I just re-regged a premium I had previously paid premium prices for, only to get the scamming "whoops we screwed up, you underpaid for this premium" b.s., which is absolutely outrageous.

I will never reg a .tv again and if my card ain't refunded pronto, the shit will hit the fan. What a way to further destroy already terrible goodwill. Jesus.

Here's one for you - the domain I thought I registered today through ENOM was supposedly a mistake on their part. How can you make a mistake on your own pricing? Let me think. I enter a domain at SEDO or Afternic that I am willing to sell for $1000 and mistakenly leave off a zero and put $100. Someone buys it for $100. Oh sorry I made a mistake. Please send me an additional $900...

Yep, just got the email I was anticipating. S'okay, it is a good domain, no sense complaining about it, it is obviously a communications issue between registrars. I'm going to have to figure out how to come up with the extra money.

Geez, the forum has gone right downhill since your appearance. Other Anti DOT TV people at least make logical comments. You sound like a broken record.

The premium renewals were a positive development. I still don't understand why they didn't let the entire group go to auction to allow all domainers to share equally. There was too much inside information, not enough warning, etc. But the shackle has been removed from the best DOT TVs.

But the shackle has been removed from the best DOT TVs.

And it remains to be seen whether that translates to the aftermarket and End user / Developer demand / adoption, IMHO. :gl:

Kind regards,
Jeff B-)
