Novice domainers are often curious why numeric domains fetch such high prices. Sure, a very short domain like 345.com might be worth the $800,000 paid for it in January 2015. But what about a domain like 89992.com, which recently sold for $4,000? Where is the value if the numbers don't mean anything?
In America, for example, we sometimes consider the number 7 to be lucky, especially in classic casino games. And the number 13 is considered unlucky enough that many buildings do not have a "13th floor" – at least not according to the elevator panels. But these scenarios pale in comparison to the importance that the Chinese place on numbers – and it's not all about luck and superstition.

In our experience, these domains often yield a higher value due to the decreased linguistic confusion between many languages.

Ok I'll give my 2 cents here. I think it has something to do with the chinese number culture.

3 is a lucky number and 6 is a lucky number too. so a SET of 3 lucky numbers like 888.com by default is more valuable. or course the concept of "less is more" in domain always applies. but as for 4 numbers and 5 numbers or 7 numbers? those numbers are bad lucky. remember I'm talking about sets of 4 numbers and sets of 5 numbers and sets of 7 numbers. a set of 8 number is very lucky especially if it's all lucky numbers for example like my 8N.com with a set of 8 numbers. 33889922.com. plus my dotcom has numbers in sets of 2 like "33" and "88" and "99" and "22" all lucky numbers in chinese culture. but there's a chinese saying also.

"All good things come in Pairs" so this domain as a pair of 3's and pair of 8's and a pair of 9's and a pair of 2's. with a TOTAL of 8 numbers which is the luckiest of all chinese numbers.
