I often wonder, what laws protects domainers who just park their domains and wait to develop. What if I really wanted a domain say ABC.com, and it was parked, so I went out, and opened a business called ABC LTD., could I see for that ABC.com domain? If so what rights or services do domainers have to protect themselves against this?

Domainers can use whatever applicable laws (e.g. trademark) to protect their
interests. You could sue, but winning is a different story. And since rights are
challenged every other day, people can use whatever applicable services are
there (e.g. UDRP, court) to protect themselves against such.

And those are just the short answers.
