What do you think is the worst extension out there and why?

gtld: .travel because its the longest, and its too specialized a niche to have its own extension.

cctld: .mn because they are side-by-side so you have to type them all with 1 hand while avoiding the comma key in between, and otherwise you'd have to awkwardly use 2 hands.

The rapidly sinking .TV has to be among the worst in terms of registrar greed. Look at how Enom keeps jacking up premium renewals the moment they drop. Looks to me like they're trying to milk the extension dry before the 2012 contract expiration.

Definitely agree, not to mention all the people that will spell travel "travle" or something like that - way too much room for a typo.

.name then .tel

.hu
You must fill out a paper, and send it to a registrator (via fax(!) or mail (!!!)). If you register as an individual, you must wait 2 weeks (!) after your order arrived. If no-one complains about the name, you'll get it after this 2 week period. If the needed domain is exactly the same as the name of your company, this period is shorter, less than a week. The only problem is that you have to present tons of papers about your firm.

And the nominees are;

In the category of ccTLD: .su (Soviet Union). Didn't gain enough traction because Lenin always preferred .com(munism). *boom boom* Thank you, I'll be here all week! Try the veal!

In the category of gTLD: .name - why call a namespace 'name'? A void of meaning leaves a bitter taste in the mouth. No clarity of purpose.

In the category of sTLD: .mobi - the only extension designed to namespace devices and break the principle of device independence on the web. A truly horrendous animal that any web lover should scowl at.

In the category of proposed new sTLD: .car - registry says it's needed to make content safe for viewing inside a vehicle.

And the winner is... .mobi!

Oh, I forgot about .tel. Worst gTLD is definately .tel.

Never heard of .museum, but if it exists, that is definitley 2nd worst, then .travel, then .name

Oh, I forgot about .tel. Worst gTLD is definately .tel.

The sad part is that if Telnic would remove the DNS restrictions the extension could possibly survive. However, it looks like they intend to stick to their guns and run this into the dirt via static-template homicide. IMO.

.mobi and .tv - mainly because these two extensions were hyped up a lot, gained some traction, but are now near worthless

.name and .ws, now they are famous for being unpopular among domainers. D-:

Forgot .aero, its definitely the worst after .tel

.tel because you can only post a link directory and you can't point the DNS.
