What is exactly the domain extension, .o?

Recently, I've purchased several .o domains, but I find the .o domains (with regular business/financial keywords) cannot be opened, cannot show up in all major browsers. First time to come across with this kind of new domain-extension thing.

.o, the o is the English alphabet's o, not the numerical 0. I cannot find .o domain extension info on the search engines.

Anyone here knows this domain extension, .o? Please tell.

Thank Hypersot and JB Lions for helpful advice.

Frankly I didn't know anything about Alt Domains until now today. When I purchased the .o extension domains, I didn't see any notice/explanation for the .o domain and some other special domain extensions on the webpage. I have never heard anything about the Alt Domains.

Just now I've contacted with Epik support. A support team member responded to my email quickly and said she escalated the problem to the tech team to find if there is a method to solve this problem.

Until now I realize these special-domain-extensions domains cannot be used in usual ways. How to deal with this situation?

Its one of big challenge on Namecoins like .o, .bit, .emc, .coin, .lib and .bazar domains. Some of user recommend to add certain extensions , depends on our default browser.

For chrome , user could try this https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/peername/kkdihlopcnkjinfjhbeopjfmnfpcoaop/ but its not guaranteed when DNS setting on our computer different on conflict with proxy.

Update:

Yesterday, I requested the full refund of my purchase payment to Epik, as these special domains cannot be used on my end. Epik quickly responded to my refund request and gave the refund back to me. These special domains were canceled.

I'm a new customer to Epik. Compared to some other domain registrars that I've been with for a long time, I must say Epik's customer service and support are excellent. And also Epik domain service has some more advantageous and user-friendly features that many other domain registrars don't have.

If you have any questions about TLDs, if the TLD is not listed in this site ( https://www.iana.org/domains/root/db ) then it is an alternative TLD and it will not be visible to most Internet/Web users.

First I heard of this too.

Looks like .o and other "alt" extensions like .geek, .pirate require changing your dns settings in order to use and access them. These TLDs are not interchangeable with the regular web we know.

DNS settings are set within the device used to connect to the internet. An example of DNS is the Google Public DNS, which is a popular alternative that people use rather than their own ISP's, but this also just for the regular web.

Info on alt extensions and the dns configurations needed for them over at the OpenNIC Project.

The technology extension only known by domainers that had a short lived trend a few years ago.
I have one of them but wouldn't hold breath now even though were other bidders at time.
