I'm thinking vowels followed by consonants or visa-versa.

    A lot of factors

    1. Pronounceability.
    2. Branding.
    3. Marketing.
    4. Is it a dictionary word or made up word.
    5. Etc.

I would also go with if it is a dictionary word, with the watch out that the name is not already taken by a company which could cause legal issues.

Pronounceability/brandability & dictionary words are always way more valuable.

    @brandpainvestment who mentioned

Is very correct in this assessment.

However -- there is one major factor that should be included.

    End-User Demand

You may have the most incredible 4L word ever with all the marketing, branding, and proper pronunciation.

However, if you have no end-user demand for the name -- you will never see an end-user price.
Only other investors looking for you to give it over for wholesale.

Then it becomes a waiting game until a company is in search for that -specific string of LLLL-
Which can be days to months to years.

I'd add that especially for non-pronounceable ones, more commonly used letters are generally in higher demand as they are easier to find an acronym with- thus more likely to find an end user

First, consider the domain structure, is it a 4 character domain or a pronounceable 4 letter English word. If it is an unpronounceable word or possible abbreviation, (LLLL.com & LLNN.com) the price can be easily around 4k+ to anywhere on top premium price brackets.

If it's just 4 character combination with brandable possibilities, (most of LNLL.com) I have seen them selling between 150USD to 2000USD.

I think the price of the 4 character domain depends upon -
    1. The brandable proposition of those characters in the current market
    2. Premium letter combinations
    3. Previous purchase history
    4. Domain Age (in some cases)
    etc.

Please feel free to ask questions on 4 letter domain names. I love 4 letter domains and have traded LLLL.com & LNLL.com in the past.
